In 1969, Miss Tuo worked as the leader of a research team aiming to discover a treatment for malaria. Three years later, she succeeded in extracting Qinghaosu from a Chinese herb to cure those patients of malaria.  A New Drug Certificate for Qinghaosu was issued by the Ministry of Health of China in 1986.  To our excitement, Mrs Tuo was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for discovering a novel therapy against malaria in 2015.
