    Step1: Leading-in
    Last class, we talked abut that ur senir high schl is a time f learning and discvery. Hw can we learn better and discver mre? (lead t Cnfucius’s saying: Study withut thinking leads t cnfusin; thinking withut study ends in puzzlement. )
    Step2: Pre-reading
    Senir high schl brings a lt f new experiences t everyne. Tday we will read a speech given t senir high students by Mr Xu, their principal n the first day f the term. Befre the students read the speech transcript , they shuld think abut 2 questins:
    Hw d yu think senir high schl will be different frm junir high schl?
    What d yu think the principal will talk abut in his speech?
    Step3: Detailed reading fr imprtant infrmatin
    Listen and name
    1). Play the tape and ask the students t listen carefully and mark the numbers befre each paragraph.
    2). Intrduce the definitin f tpic sentencess, where can we find them? Ask them t find ut the answer n P4 A1
    Read Mr Xu’s speech quickly and try t finish A1 n page 4.

    Read the speech transcript again carefully and answer the questins n P4 A2.
    Dealing with new wrds and phrases
    Ask the students t read the speech carefully and try t understand the sentences. Find ut the wrds r phrases that yu are cnfused. Tell the students t try t guess their mearnings accrding t the frm r linked sentences.
    Prvide an exercise n ppt.
    Match the meanings and part f speech.
    Present all the new wrds and phrases and read them alud.
    Step4: Pst-reading
    talk abut the characters f a speech. Read the part f A3 n p4
    Pair wrk. Discuss the fllwing questins.
    Ask tw r three grups t present in class.
