Teaching Objectives
T listen t the tape fr specific infrmatin that they need t cmplete a table
T help the students develp the ability t recgnize the keywrds and grasp the main pints f a listening material
T develp the ability t rganize the infrmatin they get thrugh listening
Teaching Prcedure
Step 1 Talking abut the three schls
Get the students t talk abut the three schls. Encurage them t speak ut as much infrmatin as pssible.
Step 2 Intrducing the stry line
Intrduce the stry line by reading thrugh and explaining the instructin wrds f part A. G thrugh the table carefully and explain sme f the wrds, fr example, ‘Length f summer hliday’ ‘Time spent n hmewrk every day’. The students must be clear abut what they shuld get while listening.
Step 3 Playing the tape
Play the tape and get the students t listen carefully fr the infrmatin the needed. The students are hped t speak ut the infrmatin using whle sentences.
Divide the whle class int three grups. Each grup will fcus n talking abut ne schl respectively. They are hped t talk abut the schls, by transfrming the phrases in Part A1 int sentences. If it is necessary, write the fllwing sentences patterns n the bard t help them rganize their idea and make the reprt mre fluently. Encurage the students t make cmparisns between r amng schls.
Step 4 Finishing Part A2
Get the students t finish Part A2, Page 32. Tell the students that ‘Daniel is cmparing his schl t Wdland Schl and Rcky Muntain High Schl. Lking at table in Part A1 and help Daniel t cmplete his article.
Ask the students t check the answers fr each ther. Then get the students t read the sentence ut ne by ne.
Step 5 Explaining sme f the sentences
Explain sme f the sentences t the students, because these sentences are really imprtant t talk abut different schl lives.
Chinese students have mre weeks ff in the summertime than British students. (‘Off ’ is part f the phrasal verb ‘have/take (a perid f time) ff’/ ‘be ff’. It means ‘t be away frm wrk r schl fr a perid f time’. Here, it means students in China have a lnger summer hliday than British students.)
Step 7 Reading sentences
Write dwn sme sentences abut three schls n pieces f papers and get sme f the students t read them ut while the ther students guess which schl is he/she frm.

Step 8 Finishing the exercises in Part A3
Get the students t finish the exercises in Part A3. And then check the answers. (Fr weaker class, the teacher may put it mre clearly that Nancy is frm Rcky Muntain Schl in America, Jhn is frm Wdland Schl in England and Daniel is frm Beijing Sunshine Schl in China.)
Help the students t get the answers by asking questins.
Wh am I? Which schl am I frm? Which cuntries am I frm?
Step 9 Translating the fllwing sentences
Get the students t translate the fllwing sentences. Once again help the students t fcus n sme imprtant sentences patterns and cnslidate it.
1. 我们学校夏日放假星期比丹尼尔学校少。
2. 你校校服与我校服不同。
3. 我们学校学生最多
4. 我们学校老师比他们学校老师多(得多)。(提高题)
5. 他们学校花园里的花和我们学校花园里的花很相象。
Step 10 Hmewrk
Encurage the students t find the infrmatin abut their wn schl. Ask them t cmpare the schl between British Schls and American Schls.
There are 1,800 students and 80 teachers in Beijing Sunshine Schl.
There are 46 teachers in Wdland schl.
There are 28 classrms in Wdland Schl.
They have a 6-week hliday in summertime./ students have 6 weeks ff in summertime.
At Beijing Sunshine Schl Secndary Schl/ Wdland Schl/ Rcky muntain Schl High Schl, there are….
