Lesson 38　Nick’s Busy Month

1.能够掌握课标要求的“四会”词汇：mark，calendar，December，best，Friday，Christmas，Sunday，sale。

2.让学生了解如何介绍节日。

3.让学生了解12月中的有关节日。

1.掌握一些与节日有关的词汇：Christmas，Boxing Day，New Year’s Eve。

2.激发学生兴趣，让学生表演不同节日活动的

场景。

掌握以下重点句子：

①My best friend Tony’s birthday is on Tuesday，December 6.

②I get many presents on that day.

③Many stores have big sales!

④It’s so much fun.

Step 1：Lead－in

Lead－in by discussing the following questions：

1.How does Nick like December？

2.When do Nick and his family have a big dinner？

3.When is Boxing Day？

Show the slides of festivals. Ask the students discuss the questions in groups and then let them present their results in front of the class. The styles can be dialogues or reports.



Step 2：Listening

Listen to the tape and fill in the blanks with the words you hear.

1.Tony’s birthday is on________，December 6.

2.Nick’s family and he have a big________on New Year’s Eve.

Finish the task in class orally.

Step 3：Reading

Read the dialogue and answer the following questions：

1.What does Nick get at Christmas？

2.What do Nick’s parents like to do on Boxing Day？

Finish the task in class orally.

Step 4：Practice

Make sentences with the language points：

1.go shopping

S1：Let’s go shopping this afternoon.

2.have a party

S2：They are going to have a party after the meeting.

Step 5：Activities

Introduce your favourite festival in December. Work in groups. At the same time，the teacher can walk around the classroom to see if the students have any questions.

Discuss for a while，and then let some students come to the front to show their introductions.

Step 6：Come to “Let’s Do It！”

Listen to the tape again，and finish Exercise 1.Read the passage again，and ask the students to do Exercise 2 in class.

Work in pairs and finish Exercise 4.

1.Finish Exercise 3 in “Let’s Do It！”.

2.Write a short passage about your favourite festival.
