Hell! My name is Jhn, and I’m here t talk abut the pwer f music ver wrds. Tw years ag, my grandmther passed away, and music has helped me cpe since then. Smetimes wrds cannt describe what we are feeling, but music can. As Hans Christian Andersen nce said, “Where wrds fail, music speaks.” Music is like a special language that everyne can understand. Have yu ever heard a piece f music and remembered an imprtant time in yur life? Perhaps when smething imprtant happened, r when yu felt really happy r sad.
I feel this way abut a piece f classical music by Eric Satie called “Gymnpédie N. 1”. It reminds me f my grandmther. It is like an ld friend cmfrting me when I hear it. This music helps me remember hw much I miss her. It helps me remember all the great times we had. And music helps me be grateful fr that time tgether. Cara had taught Nikki hw t play cards and ther games. But Cara didn't seem t like ding much f anything with Nikki anymre — except telling her what t d. Mama said it was all a part f grwing up. Nikki walked up the flwer-lined sidewalk that led t the huse. She reached fr the dr. Lcked! Nikki rang the bell and waited. Nthing. “Hey, Cara!” she shuted. “Are yu in there?”“N,” said a vice behind her.Nikki turned arund and saw Cara walk ut frm behind the huse. “Why aren't yu inside?” asked Nikki.“Yu have the key,” said Cara. “I gave it t yu n Sunday s yu culd get Mama's wallet fr her.”
Nikki thught fr a mment, then said, “Yeah, but I gave it back t yu.”“N, yu didn't,” Cara said.“Did t!” shuted Nikki.“Well, I'm nt sitting here until Mama gets hme,” said Cara. “I'm ging ver t Tina's.”“But yu can't!” shuted Nikki. “Mama said yu shuld stay with me until she gets hme.”“Why d yu care nw?” said Cara. “I heard yu cmplaining (抱怨) abut me t Mama: ‘Cara's bssy. Cara treats me like a baby.’ I'm ging t get us int the huse. Yu can sit here and cmplain all yu want,” said Cara. She strmed ff t the back f the huse.Nikki sat dwn n the steps. Her eyes burned as tears came dwn her face. Then smething caught her eye. It was the stepping stne that she and Cara had made fr Mama a few years ag. A memry (记忆) ppped int her head. It was spring, and she and Cara had helped Mama plant flwers. Mama had tld Cara that she'd place a key under this stne, “just in case.”
That's when Mama had asked Cara t lk after Nikki. Cara wasn't sure that she culd d it. Maybe Cara didn't want t be a babysitter (临时保姆) any mre than Nikki wanted t be babysat.注意:1. 所续写短文的词数应为150左右;2. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;Paragraph 1:Nikki lifted the stne and saw the bag with the huse key in it. … Paragraph 2:“Srry,” they said at the same time. …
Nikki lifted the stne and saw the bag with the huse key in it. She tk the key and ran tward the back f the huse, calling, “Cara, lk what I fund!” Nikki stpped shrt when she saw her sister wiping away tears f her wn. “Here, Cara,” she said as she handed her the key. “Thanks, Nikki,” said Cara sftly. “I had frgtten all abut it.” Cara unlcked the back dr, and they went int the huse.
“Srry,” they said at the same time. Cara shk her head and smiled. “I guess yu're nt a baby and I'm nt a babysitter — r at least nt a very gd ne.” Nikki didn't knw what t say. Cara's right, she thught. “Yu're OK,” said Nikki, “but let's just say that we're sisters instead.” “Deal,” said Cara. “Want t play cards?” Nikki ndded and smiled wildly. Wednesdays were lking a whle lt better.
Chse ne side (agree/disagree) f the tpic: Classical music is better than pp music. Discuss with yur partners, then write a shrt speech in 80 wrds abut it.
As we all knw, music plays an imprtant rle in ur life. Different peple like different types f music. Fr me, classical music is better than ppular music. Here are my reasns:First f all, classical music dates back t arund hundreds f years, s it passes histry and culture n t later generatins. Secnd, sme pieces f classical music were cmpsed by masters such as Haydn, Mzart and Beethven, wh had a great influence n music.
Mre imprtantly, classical music has std the test f time. That is why it has been ppular since it was brn. Althugh many peple like ppular music, I still think classical music is better than ppular music.
