    第一部分:词汇精讲
    1. Pardn me意为“对不起”
    【拓展】
    表示道歉,意为“对不起”
    ---Pardn me,I suppse I shuld have kncked. ---That’s all right.
    表示没听清或没听懂对方的话,请求对方再说一遍(也说I beg yur pardn/Pardn等,注意说时用升调),意为“请再说一遍;对不起,我没听清”。
    ---Where’s the pst ffice? ---Pardn me? ---I asked where the pst ffice was.
    (3 )用于提出异议之前,意为“对不起”。Pardn me, but this is my cat.
    (4 )用来引起对方注意,意为“对不起;打扰一下;请问”。
    Pardn me,may I disturb yu a minute?
    【联想】 Excuse me, I’m srry与I beg yur pardn
    三者都有“对不起,请原谅”的意思,但用法有区别。
    下列情景中要用Excuse me:
    向别人问路、问时间时。 Excuse me! Where are the washrms?
    当你询问别人是否准许你做某事时。 Excuse me!Can I put my bike here?
    当你向别人打听某人(某事)时或当你要证实对方是不是某人 时。
    ---Excuse me!Are yu Mr.Black? ---N,I’m nt.
    I’m srry常用来表示自己犯了某种过错,也可表示“遗憾”,如对别人的不幸有所表示或不满足对方的要求等。

    I beg yur pardn可用于(正式场合):
    做错事而道歉(比I’m srry更正式,也可说pardn me)
    谈话中提出异议之前
    没听清对方的话,希望对方重复一遍时(可说pardn me或pardn,可用问号,说时用升调)
    用来引起地方的注意

    2. suggest作动词,可意为“显示;间接表明”,后可接宾语从句。
    e.g. His behavir suggested (that) he was a kind man.
    他的行为显示他是个好人。
    【拓展】suggest作“建议”讲时,应注意以下两点:
    1) suggest ding sth. 建议做某事
    e.g. I suggested ging hme. 我建议回家。
    2) suggest后接从句时,从句常用虚拟语气,谓语由“shuld +动词原形”构成,
    shuld可以省略。
    e.g. I suggested that we shuld g hme. 我建议我们回家。
    另外,suggestin是suggest的名词形式,作“建议”讲时,是可数名词。
    e.g. D yu have any suggestins? 你有什么建议吗?
    3. prefer用法
    (1).prefer+名词或动名词“宁愿”,“更喜欢”。
    He cmes frm Shanghai, s he prefers rice. 他是上海人,因此更喜欢吃米饭。
    I prefer ging by bike.我宁愿骑单车去。
    I prefer the white ne.我喜欢那个白的。
    (2).prefer t d “愿意做”。
    I prefer t g at nce.我愿意马上就走。
    (3).prefer sb. t d “愿意某人做”
    I prefer yu t g at nce.我倒希望你马上就走。
    (4).prefer t sth.“宁愿做...而不做...”.
    I prefer tea t milk.我宁愿喝茶也不喝牛奶。
    I prefer watching TV t ging ut. 我宁愿看电视也不出去。
    (5).prefer t d sth. rather than d sth.“宁愿做...而不做...”
    I prefer t watch TV rather than g ut.我宁愿呆在家里也不出去。
    (6). prefer+ that从句“宁愿”(从句一般用虚拟语气)
    I prefer that yu shuld d it.我宁愿你做这件事。

    4. infrmatin
    infrmatin是不可数名词,意为“信息,情报”,常用sme,much,a great deal f等修饰。表示“一条消息”用 a piece f infrmatin。例如:
    A great deal f infrmatin can be stred in the cmputer. 计算机能储存大量的信息。

    辨析infrmatin,news与message
    infrmatin 表示通过打听、观察及学习获得的资料。
    news是不可数名词,意为“消息,新闻”,指通过广播、电视及报纸报道的事。
    message是可数名词,意为“口信,消息”,指通过口头或笔头传递给他人的消息。

    5. past
    (1)past作介词,意为“经过,穿过”。例如:
    G past the hspital, and yu will see the pst ffice.
    经过医院,你就会看到邮局。
    (2)past作名词,意为“过去”。例如:
    Alice has traveled a lt in the past.
    爱丽丝在过去旅游了许多地方。
    (3)past作形容词,意为“过去的,前任的”。例如:
    Great changes have taken place in the past 20 years.
    在过去的20年里发生了巨大的变化。

    pass作动词,意为“经过,传递”;pass作名词,意为“关口,通过”。例如:
    The schl bus passed ur garden. 校车经过了我们的花园。
    Please pass me the bk. 请把书递给我。
    He has gt a pass mark. 他达到了及格标准。
    6. depend
    depend意思为“依靠、依赖、取决于”等,只用作不及物动词,通常与介词 n, upn 连用,主要用法有:
    (1) depend n/upn+某人或某物
    Whether we’ll g camping depends n the weather. 我们是否去野营要看天气。
    有时可在某人或某物后用介词fr。
    Children depend n their parents fr fd and clthing. 儿童的衣食靠父母。。
    (2)depend n [upn]+从句
    Our success depends n whether everyne wrks hard r nt. 我们的成功取决于每个人是否努力。
    The amunt yu pay depends n where yu live. 你付多少钱要看你住什么地方。
    (3)口语中说 It (all) depends. /That depends.意为“那要看情况”。
    —Are yu ging t? 你也去吗?

    7. crrect
    (1)crrect作形容词,意为“正确的;合适的;恰当的”,例如:
    D hmewrk r read in a crrect way.用正确的方法做作业或者读书。
    The crrect answers can be fund at the bttm f page 8. 正确答案在第8页末尾。

    (2)crrect 作动词意为“改正,校正,改错,批改”等,例如:

    He may need surgery t crrect the prblem. 他可能需要手术来矫正这一问题。
    8. curse
    (1)curse 作名词,意为“课程”,是可数名词,其复数为curses。例如:
    He flunked the curse. 他考试不及格。
    The cllege curse was then cut t three years. 大学学制那时缩短到三年。
    (2) curse 作名词还可以意为“球场、一道菜、道路;线路”等。例如:
    There is an elabrate five-curse meal. 这儿有五道菜的美餐。
    The ship has altered its curse. 这艘船改变了航线。
    The cuntry club has a glf curse. 该地区俱乐部拥有高尔夫球场。

    9. beside
    beside作方位介词,以为“在……旁边”,例如:

    His rm is beside mine. 他的房间紧挨着我的房间。

    besides“除……之外(还有……)”指在整体中加入一部分,表示一种累加关系,有“加上”之意。例如;
    Besides milk, we need vegetables. 除了牛奶,我们还需要蔬菜。
    Besides different types f gas, we can als use electricity (电) t run ur cars.
    除了气体之外,电也可以用来发动汽车。
    10. lk frward t
    lk frward t 意思是“期待,盼望”,t是介词,后面接名词或者动名词。
    I lk frward t being alne in the huse. 我盼望能自己一人在这所房子。
    We lk frward t the return f spring. 我们期待着春天的到来。

    虽然介词t与动词不定式符号t在形式上相同,但用法各异。主要区别归纳如下:
    (1)介词t表示“向、往、对于 ” 等,既可以指时间、方向、距离、对象或结果,又可以指程度、直接或间接关系,后面必须接名词、代词等构成介词短语。

    11. mean
    (1)mean可以用作及物动词,意为“意欲,计划”。例如:
    I mean yu t spend this mney fr yur daughter. 我是想让你用这笔款为你女儿买些东西的。
    (2)mean还可以表示“预示”的意思。例如:
    This snw means n sprt this afternn. 这场雪使今天下午的体育活动搞不成了。
    (3)mean还可以指“(字、句等)意指,意味”的意思。
    A dictinary tells yu what wrds mean. 词典告诉你词语的含义。

    辨析:mean t d, mean ding;
    mean t d是“打算,企图”的意思。mean ding是表示“意味着”的意思。例如:

    注意:
    Culd yu…?句型的回答中,回答中不用culd,用can。这里culd不表示过去时态,只表示语气委婉。

    【词汇】really“真正地,确实地”,通常用于预料对方会有不同意见的场合,因而含有“确实如此,不骗你”的意思;有时也用于表示惊讶或含蓄的怀疑。

    【辨析】really,indeed与truly
    这三个词都可表示“真正地”。其区别在于:indeed多用于肯定对方的话或加强自己的话;really多用于进一步说服对方,或表示惊奇,或表示含蓄的怀疑;而truly多用于强调事物的真实性。

    【辨析】interested,interest和interesting
    interested是形容词,有被动意味,意味“感兴趣的”,主语通常是人,多用于be/get/feel/becme interested in结构中。

    interest用作名词时意为“兴趣,趣味”;用作动词时意为“使(人)产生兴趣”,其主语多为事物。American ftball desn’t interest me at all.
    interesting是形容词,有主动意味,意为“有趣的”。作表语时,主语通常是物。作定语时,既可修饰人,也可修饰物。

    I’m nt sure. 意为“我不确定”。sure用作形容词,意为“肯定的,有把握的”,常与be动词连用。
    (1)be sure t d sth.意为“务必做某事”,表示要求,多用于祈使句;有时还可表示一种推断“肯定做某事”。例如:
    Be sure t telephne me and give me all the news. 请一定要给我打电话,让我知道所有的消息。
    The child is sure t be a teacher. 这孩子一定会成为一名教师。
    (2) be sure f / abut (ding) sth. 表示人对某事(物)的看法,意为“对……有把握”。其后常接名词、代词或动词-ing形式。例如:

    (3)sure用作副词,意为“当然,的确”。常用来回答一般疑问句,相当于yes或certainly。

    wnder作及物动词,意为“想知道;对……感到怀疑”,常见的用法有:
    (1)后接wh, what,why,where 等引导的宾语从句。

    need作实义动词,意为“需要”。常用搭配为need sth.或 need t d sth. , 例如:

    need作情态动词,意为“需要”,后接动词原形。

    spend是动词,意为“花费(时间或金钱)”。其过去式为spent。用法如下:

    1、疑问词引导的宾语从句
    宾语从句的连接词
    特殊疑问词引导宾语从句时,从句的连接词由该特殊疑问句的疑问词充当。特殊疑问句的疑问词通常有疑问代词what,which,wh,whse和疑问副词where,when,why,hw等。
    He wndered what had happened t her.
    Culd yu tell me hw I can get t the hspital?
    宾语从句的语序
    特殊疑问句作宾语从句时,不管主句是陈述句还是疑问句,从句都是用“连词+陈述句语序的句子”,句末是否用问号由主句来定。主句是陈述句时,句末用句号;主句是疑问句时,句末用问号。

    问路和指路的常用句型:
    向别人问路时,可以用一般疑问句提出,也可用特殊疑问句提问。常用的表达方式 有:

    Can yu tell me hw I get
    出于礼貌,应先说Excuse me,然后再提问。
    为别人指路时,可以用以下句子:

    指路时,要根据对方问路时所用的句型恰当地作出回答。如果知道,可以指点方向;如果不知道,可以说:I’m srry.I dn’t knw.这时问路者仍应有礼貌地向对方表示谢意,说thank yu all the same.还是要谢谢你。
