    Teaching prcedures:
    Step 1 Lead-in
    Intrduce British English and America English by shwing students the cmmn differences in vcabulary and spelling.
    ( 设计意图:让学生直观的感受英美英语的不同从而激发学生学习兴趣。)
    T: English is a wrldwide language and there is mre than ne kind English in the wrld. British English and America English are tw majr kinds, as we all knw. Can yu tell them frm each ther? Nw let’s finish the fllwing frm with paired wrds.
    Step 2 Pre- reading
    First ask students t list the cuntries that speak English as their fficial language, and then ask students t predict what the text is abut accrding t the tpic.
    ( 设计意图:让学生具体了解英语的广泛性以及通过预测课文内容有助于学生展开想象力,积极投入到课堂学习)
    T: Please lk at the title and try t guess what the text is abut.

    S2: It is abut the changes f English.

    Step3 Reading
    (设计意图:skimming 和scanning 两个环节旨在训练学生快速阅读能力,学会找中心句,从总体上把握文章结构,理解文章大意。)
    Skimming
    T: Ask students t read the text quickly t see if their predictin is right and at the same time find ut the tpic sentence if there isn’t any ask them t sum up in their wn wrds.

Native English speakers can understand each ther even thugh they dn’t speak the same kind f English. Actually all languages change and develp when cultures meet and cmmunicate with each ther .Abut between AD450 and AD800 English was based mre n German then abut between AD800 and 1150 English became less like and was based mre n French In 16th century new settlers made English had a wider vcabulary than ever befre. In 1620 English was taken t American then in 18th century English was taken t Australia by British peple. Finally in the 19th century English was settled and tw dictinaries gave identity t American and British English. Later English arrived suth Asia because f Britain’s clnizatin .
