1. What tips d yu knw abut learning English?
1) Invite students t share any specific learning difficulties they may have with the English language, e.g., difficulty with prnunciatin, spelling, grammar, difficulty t understand the structure f a new language. There are many skills a learner needs t wrk n like speaking, listening, reading and writing.
2) Read the fur listed tips n page 56. Ask students t share their wn tips and supprt with reasns.
3) Students write their tips next t the fifth bullet pint.
2. Listen and identify the tpic.
1) Read and discuss the tpics with the students. This will help them prepare fr what they need t listen ut fr.
2) Play the interview nce and then repeat again if necessary. Students tick the tpics mentined as they listen t the interview.
3) Ask students t check their answers in pairs and then review as a class.
4) Ask students sme general cmprehensin questins:
a. Why is it a gd idea t read simplified classic literature and watch English films and prgrammes?
b. What des “learning wrds in cntext” mean?
c. What is a natural way t learn English grammar rules?
3. Listen and cmplete.
1) Play the interview fr students t cmplete the missing infrmatin.
2) In pairs, students review their answers.
3) Play the interview again fr students t cnfirm their answers.
4) Lw level students can refer t the interview script n pages 108 and 109 t cmplete the missing infrmatin.

1) In pairs, students read and discuss the tw questins. Ask students t think back tips n learning English and hw t vercme certain areas f difficulty, as well as their wn ideas.

5) Students share ther ways t learn English vcabulary and grammar effectively.

1) Explain t students that it’s imprtant t shw interest in what thers are saying. Read and discuss the Talk Builder.

1) In small grups, students search fr mre differences between British and American English. Either prvide nline resurces r students can bring in resurces.
2) Tabulate the differences that students fund between British and American English n the bard.
9. Pair Wrk: Act ut a dialgue.
1) Pair up students with different abilities. Encurage students t practise and make their dialgue sund as natural as pssible. Students need t use different expressins t shw interest.
2) Students can refer t the dialgue script n page 109 as a mdel fr their rle-play.
3) Students rle-play their dialgues in frnt f the class.
