One part f the electrmagnetic visible light is the clrs that we can see with the human eye. These rays travel in curvy lines and each type f the ray is characterized by a different wave pattern. Fr example, Gamma rays have a shrter wavelength than infrared light. Shrter wavelength is cnnected with higher energy, s gamma rays als have mre energy than infrared light.
Crals (珊瑚) are animals that live underwater. And the crals in the Red Sea exhibit flurescence. Why is this happening? Scientists have shwn that flurescent bjects absrb higher energy light and release lwer energy light. Since the crals f the Red Sea are deep in the water where there is very little visible light, scientists therize that these crals absrb ultravilet light and prduce visible light. They have special pht prteins, which enable them t change invisible light t visible light.
Flurescence is nt just used t create pretty clrs. Crals have develped pht prteins fr a bilgical reasn. The visible light is used by algae (海藻) , which are eaten by the cral, t make fd thrugh phtsynthesis (光合作用). The visual character f these pht prteins culd als be used fr bimedical research. In the 1990s, a psychlgist named Martin Seligman led the psitive psychlgy mvement, which placed the study f human happiness squarely at the center f psychlgy research and thery.
Since then, thusands f studies and hundreds f bks have been published with the gal f increasing well-being and helping peple lead mre satisfying lives. But fr ver 40 years, self-reprted measures f happiness have stayed stagnant (停滞的). Such effrts t imprve happiness have been an ineffective attempt t swim against the tide, as we may actually be prgrammed t be dissatisfied mst f the time. Why aren't we happier?
Part f the prblem is that happiness isn't just ne thing. Jennifer Hecht, a philspher wh studies the histry f happiness, prpses that we all experience different types f happiness, which are nt necessarily cmplementary Sme types f happiness may even cnflict with ne anther. In ther wrds, having t much f ne type f happiness may weaken ur ability t have enugh f the thers. Fr example, a satisfying life is built n a successful career and a gd marriage. It takes a lt f wrk and ften requires cutting back n many f life's pleasures. That means we can't spend ne pleasant lazy day after anther in the cmpany f gd friends.
This difficult situatin becmes mre cnfused by the way ur brains prcess the experience f happiness. A lt f evidence shws that mst f the peple pssess smething called the ptimistic bias. They tend t think that their future will be better than the present.
Cgnitive psychlgists have als identified smething called the Pllyanna Principle. It means that peple prcess, rehearse and remember pleasant infrmatin mre than unpleasant infrmatin. Why the gd ld days seem s gd is because we fcus n the pleasant stuff and tend t frget the unpleasantness. And if ur past is great and ur future can be even better, then we can wrk ur way ut f the unpleasant present.
Dissatisfactin with the present and dreams f the future are what keep us mtivated. In fact, endless happiness wuld cmpletely destry ur will. Amng ur earliest ancestrs, thse wh were perfectly cntent may have been left in the dust.
Recgnizing that happiness exists may help us appreciate it mre when it arrives. Furthermre, understanding that it's impssible t have happiness in all aspects f life can help us enjy the happiness that has tuched us. Recgnizing that n ne "has it all" can cut dwn n the ne thing that psychlgists knw prevents happiness: envy.
〔1〕We can learn frm Paragraph 2 that peple________.
    A.are brn t be dissatisfied
B.will never be happier than befre
C.fail t achieve their desire fr happiness
D.find it impssible t measure their happiness

A.happiness needs t be experienced withut limits
B.peple can't have all types f happiness at the same time
C.different peple have different types f happiness
D.different types f happiness always cnflict with ne anther
〔3〕Which f the fllwing cases belngs t Pllyanna Principle?
A.Peple fcus n the nice things in the past.
B.Peple tend t recall their past failures alne.
C.Peple are usually disappinted with what they have.
D.Peple cnsider their future t be better than the present.

A.restricts ur ability f achieving gals
B.leads t ur envying thers' happiness
C.enables peple t feel perfectly cntent
