A new review article, frm an internatinal team f material scientists, is suggesting a leather-like material made frm mushrm has the ptential t be cheaper and mre envirnmentally sustainable than animal leather f its plastic derivatins (衍生物) .
Nn-animal derived frms f leather have traditinally been willingly accepted by sustainability advcates. While these types f "vegan textiles" sidestep many issues fund when prducing traditinal leather, these synthetic (合成的) materials have their wn hst f dilemmas. As well as relying n harmful chemicals fr prductin, synthetic leathers cme up against the same nn-bidegradable prblems faced by mst plastic prducts.
Leather made frm fungi (菌类) is a relatively new innvatin. The little mushrms that we see pp ut f the grund are nly a small part f any given fungus. Under the grund is an ften sprawling web f branching, threaded grwths knwn cllectively as the mycelium. It is frm this mycelium structure that leather can be prduced.
Bismarck and clleagues suggest advances in making prcesses have resulted in fungi-derived leather being able t nw meet the "functinal and aesthetic (审美的) expectatins f cnsumers". They think fungi-derived leather vercmes the ethical (伦理的) issues facing animal leather and the envirnmental issues facing synthetic leathers.
In additin t being mre envirnmentally sustainable t prduce than leather and its synthetic alternatives, pure fungi — bimass — based leather substitutes are als bidegradable at the end f their service life and cheap t make.
Scaling the prductin f fungi leather up t industrial levels is perhaps ne f the remaining hurdles facing this nascent industry. But this may nt be a prblem fr t much lnger. Just last year a team frm Finland revealed the develpment f what they claimed was a nvel industrial prcess that can scale up prductin f fungi leather.
"Substantial advances in fungi-based leathers and the grwing number f cmpanies that are prducing them suggests that this new material will play a majr rle in the future f ethically and envirnmentally respnsible fabrics," says Bismarck.
〔1〕What des the underlined wrd "sidestep" in Paragraph 2 prbably mean?
    A.Avid.
    B.Raise.
    C.Cnfuse.
    D.Highlight.
〔2〕Which f the fllwing can describe fungi-derived leather?
    A.Fancy, delicate and sustainable.
    B.Cheap, ethical and ec-friendly.
    C.Ethical, cheap but nn-bidegradable.
    D.Tugh, sustainable but unfashinable.
〔3〕What can we expect f fungi-derived leather in the future?
    A.It might be ethically questinable.
B.It may have a cnsiderable ptential.
C.It will substitute fr traditinal leather.
D.It can be prduced n a large scale sn.
    〔4〕What's the passage mainly abut?
    A.Innvatins n the leather market.
    B.Functins f fungi-derived leather.
    C.Advcates fr envirnmental prtectin.
    D.fungi-derived leather as greener alternative.
