    2. read fr general understanding
    3. read fr specific infrmatin and understand wrds in cntext
    4. learn abut and practise synnyms and antnyms
    5. learn abut and practise relative clauses
    【教学重难点】
    1. reading fr specific infrmatin
    2. using relative clauses
    【教学过程】
    1. Talk abut sea stries.
    (1) Write the heading “Sea” n the bard.
    (2) Ask students t tell stries abut the sea, peple wh live by the sea and peple wh wrk n the sea.
    (3) As students are talking, write wrds that they mentin abut the sea n the bard.
    (4) Discuss these wrds with students as well as the wrds in the bx.
    (5) Students can nw describe the pictures n page 30 using the wrds frm the bx.
    2. Pre-reading.
    (1) Ask students t pen their bks and silently read the Fact File n page 30.
    (2) Ask students:
    a. What d yu think the stry will be abut?
    b. What will happen in the stry?
    (3) Divide students int grups based n their reading level. Allw high level readers t read independently and cmplete the questins alne. Encurage middle level readers t read the text quietly and wrk tgether t find the answers. Supprt lw level readers by listening as they read the text alud and explaining unknwn terms and tricky sentence structures.
    (4) Discuss the answers as a class.
    3. Read and discuss questins.
    (1) Tell students that they will be reading a sea stry abut a fisherman.
    (2) Allw students time t read the full article r call n vlunteers t read the passage alud.
    (3) Encurage students t try t use cntext t understand unknwn terms.
    (4) If needed, instruct students t draw a ruler line under each paragraph. Then prvide a general sentence fr each paragraph that acts as a summary. This will help the students t srt ut the new infrmatin.
    (5) In pairs, students answer the questins n page 30 in full sentences.
    4. Read again and cmplete.
    (1) Befre students cmplete the exercise n page 31, preview the event chart they will be cmpleting.
    (2) Then have students wrk alne t cmplete the sentences.
    (3) Encurage students t use their memry t answer questins and then use the text t check their answers. Ask students if this task has helped them understand the text better.
    (4) Supprt lw level readers by prviding a list f feelings fr the stryteller that they can chse frm.
    (5) If limited n time, students can highlight the necessary infrmatin in the text.
    5. Cmplete the illustratin n page 32.
    Divide students int grups based n their understanding level. Allw high level students t cmplete the drawing telling the stry. Encurage middle level students t read the text again quietly and wrk tgether t cmplete the drawing telling the stry. Supprt lw level students by listening as they read the text alud and explain unknwn terms. Then prvide sentence frames fr lw level students t cmplete.
    6. Think and share.
    (1) Divide students int small grups t read the questins n page 32.
    (2) Students need t reread the text and answer the questins in full sentences.
    7. Pair Wrk: Find synnyms and antnyms.
    (1) Discuss with students that synnyms are wrds with similar meanings and antnyms are wrds with ppsite meanings.
    (2) Prvide each student with a wrd that they need t give a synnym and an antnym fr, e.g.
    (3) Instruct students t cmplete the exercise independently.
    (4) Check answers as a class.
    8. Cmplete the summary.
    (1) Have students read the sentence frames alud.
    (2) Check that students understand the vcabulary and cntext.
    (3) Instruct students t cmplete the sentences using vcabulary based n the stry.
    (4) Call n vlunteers t read the cmpleted sentences t check answers as a class.
    9. Pair Wrk: Understand relative clauses.
    (1) Explain t students that a relative clause a part f a sentence that has a verb in it and is jined t the rest f the sentence by “wh”, “which”, “where”.
    (2) Instruct students t wrk in pairs t underline the wrds that intrduce relative clauses and circle the wrds that the relative clauses refer t.
    (3) If needed, have students lk at the Grammar Summary, Unit 1, relative clauses n page 92. Read thrugh the rules and examples with the class and ensure that students understand relative clauses in the examples.
    10. Pair Wrk: Read, cmpare and chse.
    (1) Divide students int pairs.
    (2) Instruct students t read each sentence pair alud and decide which sentence is better. Students need t supprt their answer.
    (3) Explain t students that using relative clauses helps t make the sentences lgically clearer and cncise. Relative clauses can als help t mit repeated wrds and expressins.
    11. Using relative clauses.
    Let each student have a turn t read the sentence frames and cmplete the sentences using relative clauses and persnal answers.
    12. Pair Wrk: Express yurself.
    Instruct students t divide int pairs. Each student is t tell their partner a special and persnal experience. Students must use relative clauses.Wrd
