    A marketing channel is a set f practices r activities necessary t transfer the wnership f gds, and t mve gds, frm the pint f prductin t the pint f cnsumptin, which cnsists f all the institutins and all the marketing activities in the marketing prcess.
    After rganic fds are prduced, the first step is frm agricultural prductin t whlesaling where they are transferred frm prducers t brkers, terminal markets, grcery whlesalers and fdservice whlesalers. The secnd stage is frm whlesaling t retailing where the fds are stcked by traditinal grcery stres, natural fd stres and fdservice utlets.     2 Given cautius cnsumer spending and tight credit, why is nline retail cntinuing t grw fast while verall retail numbers drp? Retailers need t lk n further than the great benefits and savings f selling via a multi-channel e-cmmerce platfrm.
    3 The Internet has a distinct advantage ver in-stre retail: the presence f cuntless n-demand sales channels. Still an e-cmmerce platfrm desn’t simply ffer a new sales channel; retailers are actually increasing in-stre purchases using nline platfrms. In-stre retailers with e-cmmerce platfrms may make use f multiple channels and cnslidate them thrugh crss-channel retailing. This crss-channel strategy might be giving custmers the ability t rder nline and pick up in-stre, r it culd be as simple as hnring gift cards thrugh all sales channels. By implementing a crss-channel strategy, retailers culd pen up sales pprtunities and imprve custmer satisfactin thrugh cnvenient services and fulfillment f custmer requests.

An e-cmmerce platfrm simplifies raw sales data capture, as well as data fr custmer prfiling and rder-prcessing infrmatin—any data that is necessary fr prviding a greater understanding f the retailer’s business. The data cllectin capabilities f the Internet give e-cmmerce platfrms a strategic advantage ver in-stre retail, where data is much mre difficult t capture in a systematic and rganized way.
