    T:Of the fur perids—listening,speaking,reading and writing,listening is regarded as the mst difficult skill. We are nw entering a new era. This new era places new demands n us. With peple cmmunicating with each ther frequently,listening plays an imprtant rle in cmmunicatin. Mst students are afraid f listening,why?Because they find it difficult t learn and get high scres in examinatins. That causes them t lse interest in listening. This perid shuld be designed t aruse students’ interest and imprve their listening skill. At the same time,we shuld cmbine it with speaking and writing.

    Learn t develp friendship and misunderstanding in a prper way.

    Step 1
    T:Yesterday we learned the grammar-the interchanges f Direct speech and Indirect speech. We knw we usually change the verb tenses and prnun frms and adverbials in Indirect speech. But it is nt necessary t change the tense when we reprt things that are always true. Nw let’s d sme exercises t see if yu have mastered them. Lk at the screen.

    T:I am glad t see yu are familiar with this grammar. Nw please turn t Page 6.Let’s d sme listening. Yu are ging t read a letter frm Lisa first. What’s the prblem with her?Read it quickly t find the answer.
    S1:Lisa’s classmates misunderstd her and her by friend.
    S2:Lisa thught they had pure friendship,but her classmates thught they fell in lve with each ther.
    T:Quite right. Nw Lisa is asking Miss Wang f Radi fr Teenagers t give her sme suggestins. Befre listening t the tape,please guess what Miss Wang will say t Lisa. Wrk in grups f three t have a discussin.
    T:Share yur ideas with the whle class.
    S1:Miss Wang will suggest Lisa explain their friendship t her classmates.
    S2:Miss Wang will advise Lisa nt t pay mre attentin t what thers say.
    S3:She will ask Lisa t list sme pssible reasns fr ther students’ misunderstanding.
    T:OK,nw let’s listen t the tape. Read questins first. Then check answers with yur partners and later check them with the whle class.
    T:Great! Read the requirements in exercise 3 t make sure what main sentences yu shuld ntice. Fr the secnd time,fill in the blanks.
    T:Yu are clever. I d like yu t listen t anther passage abut why peple write a diary. Als,first try yur best t fill in the blanks and then listen t the tape. After that,check by yurselves t see hw well yu finished this exercise and let’s see wh is the tp student in this activity.
    T:Just nw we have learned sme infrmatin abut hw t keep friendship with yur friends in a prper way and why a diary can be ur friend. But why d peple make friends with ne anther?We are ging t hear what Lesile Clark,a Canadian says. D yu agree with her?What d yu think f peple frm freign cuntries?Use the expressins listed t help yu express yur ideas and reasns.

    T:We talked much abut friends and friendship. Hw d yu evaluate a friend?What kind f friends are yur classmates?Let’s make up a quiz.
    Versin:1.Yu’re talking t smene at yur lcker when yu see yur friend appraching. She’s sprting a new haird that is a definite dn’t. The persn yu’re with makes a nasty cmment. Yu
    a. annunce that yu think the style is great and then study it until yu find smething abut it that yu really d like.
    b. ignre the cmment and find a time t gently break it t yur friend that she might want t try smething else.
    c. agree with the cmment. After all,the style is awful.
    T:That’s all fr discussin. Nw let’s learn sme language pints. First,pay attentin t phrases:get alng well with,have sme truble with,fall in lve,hate ding,try ut,make a questinnaire.(Write them n the blackbard.) Then we’ll learn a sentence pattern:That way yu will shw them that yu are mre(Write it n the blackbard.) Nw lk at their usages.(Shw the fllwing n the screen and explain them.)     Mstly A’s:Yu’re a truly terrific friend. Yu knw what it means t be a gd friend,and yu d yur best t live up t that. Even when the right chice is nt the easy chice,yu still cme thrugh. Yur friends shuld feel frtunate t have yu in their lives.
    Mstly B’s:Yu d care abut yur friends,and yu usually make gd decisins abut yur friendships. Smetimes,thugh,yu’re swayed t make chices that might nt be fr the best. Think carefully abut what it means t be a gd friend and then make sure yu stick t it. Yu and yur friends will all be better ff.
    Mstly C’s:Yu’re walking n thin ice with yur friendships. If yu dn’t want t fall thrugh,yu’re ging t have t make sme changes. Start by making a list f qualities yu’d like t see in yur wn friends. Then make an effrt t be that way yurself.
