This is the sixth teaching perid f this unit. We can first review sme imprtant language pints the students learned in the last several perids. The emphasis f this perid shuld be laid n listening and writing. They are expansin f the tpic f the text. Listening is abut Lisa’s prblem f making a friend with a by. She asks Miss Wang fr advice. Thrugh listening and exercise, students learn hw t give advice and the skill f giving advice. And als let them think abut the prblem f by’s making friends with girls and girls with bys. And then design a task t ask students t give advice accrding t the different prblems t develp their ability t slve the prblems. All f these lay the fundatin fr the next task—writing. In this way, students feel that they have infrmatin t put ut. And writing makes fr the imprvement f students’ writing ability, strengthening their cmprehensin f friendship.
The tw letters, listening and letter writing prepare students t further talk abut friendship, especially the prblems with misunderstanding, and unfriendliness, thus strengthen students’ abilities t practice language, discver, and slve prblems.

→Step 2 Reading and listening(n Page 6)
1. Lead-in
Talk freely with the students t lead in the listening tpic. Just like the fllwing:
D yu remember what Ann’s best friend is? Is it a man r a thing?
Guess what my best friend is. (Say smething abut music, pets r plants. )
S yu see a man can make friends with anyne and anything.
Then bys, wuld yu like t make friends with girls? Girls, wuld yu like t make friends with bys? What kind f girl wuld yu like t make friends with? And what kind f by wuld yu like t make friends with?
If yu see a by classmate makes a friend with a girl, will yu say smething abut them behind? (If n, yu are kind. If yes, yu are a gssiper. )
If yu are that by r girl, wuld yu like t be gssiped abut?
2. Reading
Read the letter. Lisa has such a prblem. She is asking yu fr help. What advice will yu give? Yu are given 2 minutes t discuss in grups and then ffer yur grup’s pinins.
3. Listening
Tell the students:Besides yu, Lisa als asks Miss Wang f Radi fr Teenagers fr help. What advice des Miss Wang give t Lisa? Let’s listen t what she says.
Listen fr 3 times and d listening exercises. A furth time fr checking.
4. Pst-listening
Tell the students:D yu think Miss Wang’s advice is helpful? Nw suppse yu are editrs f Radi fr Teenagers, here are sme prblems fr yu t ffer advice.
Shw the fllwing n the screen. Tell the students they can chse any prblem as they like t write dwn their advice.

1. Pre-writing
1)Read a letter frm a student named Xiadng. G thrugh the directins n Page 7.
2)Brainstrm with a partner abut ways t change the situatin. Make a list f the ideas and give reasns.
3)Decide which are the best ideas and put them int the right rder.
2. While-writing
Ask the Ss t write a letter t Xiadng and give him sme advice.
Suggested steps:
1)Read the sample and the expressins.
2)Begin t write the letter t Xiadng.
3)Revise yur letter by yurself.
4)Exchange yur writing paper with yur partners and crrect the mistakes yu have made.
5)Get back yur wn writing paper and write the letter again.
3. Pst-writing
Have a discussin in grups.
1)Can yu give Xiadng sme gd advice?
2)Is yur letter well develped?
3)Are yur ideas well rganized t the pint?
4)D yu have a gd chice f wrds and idims in yur writing?

6)What kind f mistakes have yu made in yur writing? What can yu d t avid such mistakes?
Chse sme students’ writing paper and shw them in the class. Ask the Ss t crrect the mistakes tgether and als learn frm sme gd writings.

Writing task (n Page 46)
1. Read the prverbs, explain them and ask the students t chse sme they agree with and sme they disagree with and explain why.
2. Discuss with their partner and then write a passage accrding t the sample stry and “Analyzing the structure”.
