    Advanced Back Cuntry Trips
    On these trips yu will be backpacking t the wrk site and will have a chance t advance yur trail and leadership skills under the supervisin(监护) f a WTA leader.
    Trip Details
    In 2015, trip fees fr WTA members will be $195 fr the first trip and $145 fr each additinal trip. Nn-members will pay an additinal $40 fr their first trip and can be qualified t be members in the secnd trip. Due t the ppularity f ur trips, please submit yur payment and applicatin within tw weeks. If a trip is full and yu wuld like t be added t the waiting list, please call us at 206/625-1367 r email trail-teams@wta.rg.

    My mther has a dining table which sits right in the middle f her dining rm. It was nce buried beneath piles f papers—magazines, articles, cpies f schedules fr vacatins she tk back in the 1990s, and baby pictures f grand children wh are nw paying ff their cllege lans.
    My brther Rss and I recently flew t New Yrk t visit my mther. “Mm, why dn’t we g thrugh all that stuff?” Rss said. “N. Dn’t tuch it!” My mther said.     On ur last night there, my mther walked up t us with a small pile f unpened mails, which she had cllected at the western edge f the dining table, and said, “Help me g thrugh these.” “Sure,” I said. When we had succeeded in separating wheat frm chaff (谷壳), I asked, “Wuld yu want t deal with anther little pile f papers?”
    My mther led the way, walking int the dining rm the way an animal manager might be while entering a cage with tigers in it. Rss and I came in behind her and suddenly he reached fr a pile f the papers n ne side f the table. “N!” my mther said sharply. “Let’s start at the ther end. That’s where the lder stuff is.” Finally, we threw 95 percent f the stuff int paper shpping bags. Then I asked what she wanted us t d with them, she surprised us all by saying, “Put them in the incineratr (垃圾焚化炉).”
    When I returned hme, inspired by the visit t my mther, I srted ut my wn accumulated(累积的) piles f papers, sld r gave away half f my pssessins, and mved int a smaller huse. It seems that my life has been cheaper and easier since then. And it prves that a small change des make a big difference.

    Katharine Meyer Graham was nce described as "the mst pwerful wman in America." She was nt a gvernment fficial r elected representative, but she wned The Washingtn Pst newspaper. Under her leadership, it became ne f the mst imprtant newspapers in the cuntry.
    Katharine Meyer was brn in a rich family in New Yrk City in 1917. In 1933, her father had bught a failing newspaper, The Washingtn Pst. Her marriage was a tragedy. Her husband treated her badly and suffered frm mental illness, killing himself in 1963.
    With n training r experience in business, she was insecure and she did nt think she had the ability t d an imprtant jb. But Katharine Graham didn't give up. In 1969, Missus Graham became publisher as well as president f The Washingtn Pst Cmpany.
    In the 1970s, The Washingtn Pst became famus arund the wrld because f tw majr successes. In 1971, an rder frm a federal judge stpped The New Yrk Times frm publishing the Pentagn(五角大楼)Papers, because President Richard Nixn believed publicatin wuld endanger natinal security. Yet Katharine Graham ruled against the judge's rder and decided t publish the Pentagn Papers in The Washingtn Pst, which was cnsidered a majr success fr freedm f the press.
    In 1972, The Washingtn Pst had anther majr success. Thrugh the lng Watergate(水门事件)investigatin, despite gvernment' s threat, Missus Graham supprted her reprters and editrs. The newspaper was awarded the Pulitzer Prize fr public service in 1973 fr its Watergate reprting. The next year, President Nixn resigned frm ffice.
    Katharine Graham died f head injuries when she was eighty-fur. She used her intelligence and bravery t imprve the American media. After her death, the emplyees f The Washingtn Pst wrte: "A wrld withut Katharine Graham will nt be the same at all."
