this，that，these， thse这些统称为指示代词。指示代词是用来指示或标识人或物的词。指示代词that指时间上或空间上离说话者较远的人或物，其对应词为this。that作为指示代词与this一样，指代单数可数名词；指代复数可数名词时，应用thse或these。
1.指示代词this，that，these和thse
This is the teacher and thse are his students.这位是老师，那些是他的学生。
——Is that yur pen?这是你的笔吗？——N,it isn’t.不，它不是。——Are thse yur friends?那些是你的朋友吗？——Yes, they are.是的，他们是。
注意： ①名词前有指示代词this，that，these， thse时不能用冠词（a,an,the）修饰以及形容词性物主代词（his，her，my等）修饰。②在回答一般疑问句时，不能直接用this，that，these， thse，而要用it或they代替指示代词，以避免重复。
拓展：在电话用语中，“This is...”,表示“我是……”，用于介绍自己。
③ this is没有缩写形式；that is可以缩写为that’s；these are和thse are也不可以缩写。

2.That’s my family.
family是名词，意为“家；家庭”。当family指“家庭成员；家人”时，它是一个集合名词，单复数同行。作主语时，谓语动词用复数形式。当family作“家庭”时，是一个可数名词，复数形式是families。
