1. Warming up by talking abut Tibet
Have yu ever been t Tibet? D yu want t travel in Tibet? Can yu tell me smething abut Tibet?
2. Reading and underlining
Nw let’s g n with JOURNEY DOWN THE MEKONG with Wang Wei and Wang Kun. They are in Tibet nw. Please turn t Page 22. Read the passage quickly and underline all the useful expressins and cllcatins in it. Cpy them t yur ntebk after class as hmewrk.
3. Reading and translating
Next yu are ging t read the text JOURNEY DOWN THE MEKONG and translate it int Chinese.
4. Speaking English
Read the passage again and find the answers t the questins:

After that I’ll play the tape fr the secnd time and then finish the chart. Yu shuld lk thrugh the chart and find ut the listening pints. 6. Guided writing—Writing a shrt email
Nw let’s d a writing practice. Imagine that yu are a friend f Wang Wei. Write a shrt email t her and ask her t describe: hw she feels, what she is ding, and sme place yu want t knw abut. Then wish her well n her jurney by using at least tw f these expressins:

Suppse yu want t travel t Yunnan Prvince, write a letter t ne f yur friends in Yunnan and ask him/her what preparatins yu shuld make and which places are wrth visiting.
Tibet lies n the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau f the suthwest brder f China. The average height f the whle regin is mre than 4,000 meters abve sea level, fr which Tibet is knwn as “Rf f the Wrld”. The highest peak f Tibet, als the highest in Himalayas and in the whle wrld, is Everest Peak, which is as high as 8,846.27 meters abve sea level.
Althugh a part f China, Tibet has a unique culture f all its wn. It is mainly inhabited by Tibetans, a minrity natinality f ld and mysterius peple. Turist attractins include the Ptala Palace in Lhasa, Jkhang Temple, and a number f Buddhist sacred places.
Tibet (Xi Zang in Chinese) is t the suth f Xin Jiang Uygur Autnmus Regin and Qing Hai Prvince, t the west f Sichuan, t the nrthwest f Yunnan and t the nrth f India and Nepal. Its ppulatin f 2.3 millin peple cme frm a variety f ethnic grups including Tibetan, Han, Mnba and Lhta. Its capital city is Lhasa.
Nrthwest Tibet, mainly Qing Hai plateau, is hme t a variety f unusual and unique animals. Acrss the nrthern expanse f Tibet, yu can see vast grasslands where hrses, yak and sheep ram freely. The wrld's lwest valley, the Grand Yarlun-tzanp River Valley lies in east Tibet.
It is freezing cld in mst time f the year. Mst turists cme t visit Tibet nly in the warmest seasns, June, July, August and early September.

The Mekng River
1.It begins at a glacier n a Tibetan muntain which is at an altitude f mre than 5000 meters.
2.It is small and the water is clean and cld at first. Then it mves quickly and passes thrugh deep valley.
3.Half f it is in China and it is called Lancang River in China.
4.As it enters Sutheast Asia , it travels slwly thrugh hills and lw valleys, and the plains where rice grw.
