S he asked David t draw pictures f turtles (the name f the cmputer prgram) t explain it. The publisher liked his drawings, and sn David had the jb f drawing mre turtles in actin. “I learned a great lessn, which was that, t make mney as an artist, I culdn’t always draw what I wanted, ” he says, “I had t figure ut hw t draw a turtle drinking tea and ther things like that. ”
David wrked fr 20 years as a cmmercial (商业的) artist, but he ften felt cped up (禁锢) sitting at a cmputer fr 10 hurs a day. Then, n a sunny afternn abut ten years ag, he brught sme chalk and started drawing n the sidewalk. That’s when Slugg came t life.
“One f the reasns I like t put art n the street is t take peple by surprise, ” he says, “I can have fun drawing, and knwing it will be washed away helps me nt think t much. It frees me up. ”
