Teaching objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to.
1. Say in English what his or her hobby is?
2. Ask and answer questions about different hobbies.
3. Use interview strategies to find out information and take notes.
4. Present the results confidently to other students.
5. Learn to be a good listener and brave to ask questions in English.
Teaching difficulties:
1. Vocabulary of hobby.
2. What’s your grandparents’/parents’ hobby?
Teaching aids:
Tapes, blackboard, chalk, PPT, pictures, white papers.
Teaching procedures:
Step1. Review (10 mins)
a) Warm up: a song: “How are you?”
b) Students write the words of different hobbies.
c) Students draw pictures and share them with groups.
d) Students volunteer to present their pictures and words.
e) Teacher summarizes.
Step2. Learn the new words (15 min)
a) Use pictures and actions to introduce the words.
b) Students learn to say the words with the help of pictures.
c) Pair-work. One student does actions, the other guess what his or her hobby is?
Step3. A task: Use what is learned to do an interview
a) Volunteers to present the results.
b) Teacher gives a conclusion.
Step4. More practice (10 min)
a) Play a guessing game. Work in groups of five. One student writes his hobby on a piece of paper, and the others guess by asking questions. Teacher demonstrates first.
b) Use PPT to show some hobbies of different peoples.
Homework:
Write a short paragraph to introduce your family’s hobby to your friends.
