Passage 2
Su Bingtian is one of the fastest men in the world. At the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, he set an Asian record of 9. 83 seconds in the men's 100-meter sprint(短跑比赛). He also became the first Chinese runner to compete in the final round of the event.
Breaking the 10-second mark is a big thing for the world's top runners. Jamaican runner Usain Bolt set the event's top record in 2009 with a time of 9. 58 seconds. This made him the world's fastest runner. But just how fast can humans run? Is there a limit to our top speed?
People used to believe that our legs can only take a certain amount of force when they hit the ground. We can hurt our legs if we use too much force. In that case, the fastest possible time in the 100-meter sprint would be 9. 48 seconds, in theory(理论).
But according to a 2010 study, our legs can handle(承受)a lot more force. If we used our maximum force, we could run at a speed of 64 kilometers an hour. This means we could finish the 100-meter run in just 5. 6 seconds!
However, the study says this is not possible. Even if we used our maximum force to run, we would be held back饰our muscles' speed. There are physical limits to how fast our muscles move. At a certain point, they hit their "contractile(收缩的)speed limit". This is what really limits our top speed, according to the study.
25. What records did Su Bingtian set?
A. He set a record of 9. 83 seconds in the 110 meters hurdling race.
B. He set a record of 9. 83 seconds in the men's 100-meter sprint.

D. He set a record of 9. 58 seconds in the men's 100-meter sprint.
26. What will happen if we use too much force when we run?
A. Our heart will beat fast. B. Our muscles will get stronger.
C. Our legs can get hurt. D. We'll be the fastest in running.
27. According to the passage, which one is NOT true?
A. Nothing can limit human's top speed.
B. We can finish the 100-meter run in 5. 6 seconds
C. Usain Bolt set the event's top record in 2010 with a time of 9. 68 seconds.
D. Su Bingtian was the first Chinese runner to compete in the final round in the men's 100-meter sprint.
28. What is the passage mainly about?
A. We can get hurt if we run too fast.
B. There is a limit to our top speed.
C. Jamaican runner Usain Bolt is the fastest runner.
D. Su Bingtian is one of the fastest men in the world.
Passage 3
Reading can be a social activity. Think of the people who belong to book groups. They choose books to read and then meet to discuss them. Now, the website BookCrossing. coin turns the page on the traditional idea of a book group.
Members go on the site and register the books they own and would like to share. BookCrossing provides an identification number to stick inside the book. Then the person leaves it in a public place, hoping that the book will have an adventure, traveling far and wide with each new reader who finds it.
Bruce Pederson, the managing director of BookCrossing, says, "The two things that change your life are the people you meet and books you read. BookCrossing combines both. "
Members leave books on park benches and buses, in train stations and coffee shops. Whoever finds their book will go to the site and record where they found it.
People who find a book can also leave a journal entry describing what they thought of it. E-mails are then sent to the BookCrossing to keep them updated about where their books have been found. Bruce Peterson says the idea is for people not to be selfish by keeping a book to gather dust on a shelf at home.
BookCrossing is part of a trend among people who want to get back to the“real" and not the virtual. The site now has more than one million members in more than one hundred thirty-five countries. 29. Why does the author mention book group?

As a child, Alain Robert was afraid of heights. One day, when he was 12, he returned home from school. At the front door of his building, he looked for his keys. He didn't have them. It was 3:30, and his parents worked until 6:00 p. m. Robert looked at his apartment on the eighth floor. He saw an open window. He closed his eyes and pictured himself climbing the building. When he opened his eyes, he told himself "I can do it. " A quarter of an hour later, he was in his house, and his fear of heights was gone.
Today, Robert (known as the French Spiderman) still climbs buildings. In 2004, he climbed Taipei 101 (the tallest building in the world at the time), and in 2011 he climbed the Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai. To reach the top of a building, Robert usually uses only his hands and special shoes. Robert climbs as a hobby. He also does it to make money for charity (for children and the homeless). Climbing is his passion. Although many climbing accidents have left him seriously disabled, he has become one of the best solo climbers in the world. Alain says in an interview, "We set ourselves limits, but we are all strong enough to aim higher, to achieve our goals. All we have to do is find such strength within ourselves. "
When Robert climbs, he wants to send a message to people. If you have a dream-something you really want to do-it can become real. But you must be brave and keep trying. If something bad happens, don't give up. Close your eyes and tell yourself, "I can do it. "
