V-ing形式包括了传统语法中所说的动名词和现在分词。作主语的V-ing形式叫做动名词。动名词具有名词的特征也有动词的特征。 V-ing形式作主语往往表示经常性、习惯性的动作，谓语动词通常用单数形式。

V-ing形式作主语需要注意的问题
（1）动名词作主语与不定式作主语区别。动名词作主语表示经常性，习惯性动作。不定式作主语表示具体的或一次性动作。Swimming is my favurite sprt.游泳是我最喜欢的一项运动。T swim this afternn is what I have been dreaming f .今天下午去游泳是我盼望已久的事情。
（2）用it作形式主语，把动名词置于句尾作后置主语。
It is n gd waiting fr ther peple t make decisins fr yu.等别人替你做决定是没有好处的。It is a waste f time trying t persuade him t give up smnking.想说服他戒烟完全是浪费时间。It’s n use/gd/need/useless/a waste f time ding…
(3)当句型“There is n…”表示“不允许、禁止某种行为的发生或存在”时，需用V-ing形式作主语。
There is n denying that the envirnment is frm bad t wrse.不能否认环境状况正在逐步恶化。There is n jking abut such matters.这种事开不得玩笑。There is n saying when he will cme.很难说她什么时候会来。
（4）用于布告形式的省略结构中。
N smking.(=N smkingis allwed here.)禁止吸烟。N parking.(=N parking is allwed here.)禁止泊车。
(5)V-ing的复合结构作主语。
The student’knwing English well will help them t lerm French.学生学好了英语对学习法语有帮助。Yur calling back yesterday made me happy.昨天你给我回电话我很开心。作主语用的V-ing形式复合结构由物主代词或名词所有格V-ing构成。
（6）V-ing形式的否定作主语。
Nt wanting t cntinue my service in the factry was the reasn why I gave up.不想继续在这家工厂工作是我放弃的主要原因。His nt cming back last night made his parcnts wrricd . 他昨晚没回家让父母很担心。 V-ing形式的否定形式通常是在其前加nt,带有逻辑主语时nt应放在V-ing形式之前。
