Greet the students in English. Welcome to school. Happy Spring Festival.Step 2: Teaching new words and phrases. Today we teach a new unit ---Unit 1: Can you play the guitar? First please look at the pictures. Then lead out all the new words one by one. Then let the students read the words by themselves for a few minutes.Step 3: Students practice.1.Use some pictures to practice these new words: sing、dance…2.Ask the students to match the words and the people. Finish 1a.Then check the answers.3. Use these pictures and new words to lead out the important sentencesstructures: Can you…? Yes, I can./No, I can’t. Can she/he ...? Yes, she can./ No, she/ he can’t4. Pair work: Ask students to use several pictures to practice with these sentence models:1). A. Can you…? B: Yes, I can./No, I can’t. 2). A: Can he…? B: Yes, I can./No, I can’t.Ask some groups to act out their conversations. If they have done well, give them hands as a kind of prize.Step 8: Summary. The teacher with the students sums up the names of clubs that the picture has, e.g. music club, chess club, English club, art club, swimming club, add sports club, dancing club and so on. Step 9: PracticeShow some pictures and exercises on the PPT. Lead the Ss to practice the important sentences and new words that they’ve learned in this class. Then summary the use of “can”.Step 10: Homework. Write something about what you can do and what club you want to join. The students read the words by themselves The students learn the new words.
