约翰·丹佛，1943年12月31日生于新墨西哥州罗斯维尔城。美国乡村民谣歌手。丹佛在南方长大，1964年大学毕业后他迁到洛杉矶，在城市民谣俱乐部中演唱。第2年他加入了查德·米切尔三重唱组。 1969年，丹佛录制唱片《节奏与原因》。这张唱片中收录了他自己演唱的《乘着喷气飞机离去》。丹佛的许多歌曲都广为人知，如歌曲《乡村路带我回家》和《高高的洛基山》等。1974年，丹佛已是美国唱片最畅销的艺人，当时《阳光照在我肩上》(Sunshine n My Shulders)和《安妮之歌》(Annie‘s Sng)这两首歌在美国排行榜都名列前茅。 丹佛还到中国、前苏联演出。并热衷于慈善事业和环保事业。1997年10月12日，丹佛在加利福尼亚海湾因飞机失事不幸身亡，终年53岁。
