tell /tel/v. 讲述，告诉
tell用于讲故事。例句：Zhang Peng tells a stry at the party. 张鹏在聚会上讲了一个故事。
tell sb. t d sth.结构，表示“告诉某人做某事”。例句：Tell the kids t be quiet, please. 请告诉孩子们保持安静。
tell sb. sth.和tell sb. abut sth.都是“告诉某人某事”的意思。例句：Tell me yur phne number. 告诉我你的电话号码。
英语单词划分音节的口诀为：一归后，二分手，“元音＋r”归前头，字母组合不分手。
一个英语单词，如果由两个或两个以上的音节组成，念得特别响的音节就是重读音节，其他音节是非重读音节。在音标中， 符号“'”后面的那个音节就是重读音节，其余的音节就是非重读音节。
一般的双音节词,重音在第一个音节上，如：wrker/‘wɜːkə/(工人)。有的双音节词，重音在第二个音节上，如：until/ən'tIl/(直到……)。 三音节词的重音，一般在第一个音节上，如：family/'fæməli/(家庭)。也有在第二个音节上的，如：December/dɪ'sembə/(十二月)。
