Students try to learn how to read and remember the words and phrases, and how to learn in dividually and correctively. Teaching and learning steps Step I Lead inAsk students to watch the video-Helping Parents Do Chores. StepII Learn to read the new words on page 116-117Ask the students to try to read the new words in this unit according to the phonetic given by themselves and underline the difficulties they meet. Encourage the students to read the difficult words with partners. Ask individual students to read the new words to the class, the other students listen carefully. The teacher should give help and correct mistakes if necessary. Follow the tape and imitate the pronunciation. StepIII Learn to remember these words and language chunks Remember the words about some new words by looking at the picture. Students write down the words according to the picture. Introduce the language chunks about doing chores and how to make polite requests.--Could you please sweep the floor? --Can you do the dishes?--Could you please take out the trash?4.Remember the words with two kinds of the parts of speech. Could you take the dog for a walk(散步)?(noun) He walked (步行)to school every day.(verb)Could I watch TV tonight, mom?She lent me a new watch.showsurprisedreamWork StepIV Consolidation of wordsFirst, get the students a few minutes to remember the words.Get the students to read the words by Chinese then look at Chinese and say English.Then get students to spell and write down the words with Chinese. Underline the words they haven’t mastered.Check. 1.Spell the words. Let’s see which group can remember the most words. Remember the phrases by matching themselves with their meanings. Get the students have a short dictation about the important words and language chunks. If they can’t, dictate after class in groups. StepV Read the story and translate it into Chinese.First, ask the students to read the story and underline the new words.Second, let the students read the story and can understand its Chinese meaning.Third, read the story fluently by themselves.Next morning, have each group tell this story to the class.Scene:Tom’s HomeTom’s birthday is coming, he would like to have a party at home.But what a mess it is! The minute he bought some drinks and snacks, he realised that doing chores was not a waste of time. He didn’t depended on anyone to make the house clean and tidy, he learnt to be independent that he won’t treat the chores as stress. Tom’s birthday party will be successful and happy birthday to him!
