Unit 3 Could you please clean your room?

Teaching aims:

1.Knowledge aims

  The students can master the following words and language chunks.

(1) Words and expressions:                               

throw, neither, shirt, all the time, throw down, all the time, as soon as

(2) Sentences:

① Could you please take the dog for a walk?

② She didn’t do any housework and neither did I.

③ I finally understand that we need to share the housework to have a clean and comfortable home.

2. Ability Aims:

(1) Students can make polite talk about the experience and feelings of doing housework with the sentences.                 

(2) Improve speaking and listening skills.

3. Moral Aims:

(1) Learn to be polite.

(2) Students love doing housework and make requests and ask for permission politely.

Teaching procedures:

Step I Warming-up

1. Ask the students to talk about doing chores.
2. Show time: Act out their dialogue in class.

Step II Before reading

1. Show students a mind map of the new words to consolidate the new words.
2. Watch news report about “kids doing chores at home on weekends”.
3. Predict (Show the picture in 3a)

   What happened in the pictuer?

   A. Someone had a fight in the kithen.

   B. Someone didn’t clean the kithen.

Step III  While reading

1. Fast reading

  Ask the students to skim the passage.

  (1) Check their predictions.

  (2) Try to answer the question: ① Why was Nancy’s mother angry with her?

                           ② Did they solve the problem? How?

2. Careful reading

(1) Read the passage and answer the following questions.

    ① What did Nancy do when she cameback home from school last month?

    ② What did her mother want her to do?

    ③ Why didn’t she do when her mother told her?

    ④ Did Nancy and her mother do the housework the whole week?

    ⑤ What did Nancy understand ?

(2)    Read the whole passage and check the answers.

(3)    Read the passage again and find out the difficult points.

the minute sb. does sth.= as soon as someone does smething 某人一做某事就……

Neither的用法① neither用作形容词，表示“(两者)都不”，置于单数名词之前。

　　           E.g. Neither watch is made in Beijing. 

            ② neither用作代词，表示“两者都不，双方均不”。

　　           E.g. Neither of them like walking in the morning. 

            ③ neither用作连词，常用短语为neither...nor...，表示“既不……也不……”。

　             E.g.　Neither he nor I am well educated. 

            ④ neither用作副词，作“也不”解释，放在句首，表示前面否定的内容也适用于另一个人或物，句子须采用部分倒装。此时也可用nor替换neither使用。

　　           E.g. —I don’t want to show my article to my friends.

　　               —Neither / Nor do I.

as…as… 和……一样    E.g. I’m just as tired as you are!=You’re tired, but I’m tired, too.

(4)    Discuss and try to use the useful expressions in groups.

(5)    Share the whole story with the students according to the given expressions.
