It is said that there was an extremely tall laurel tree n the mn and a man called Wu Gang was rdered t cut dwn the tree as a punishment fr ffending the gd f heaven. He was nt allwed t g hme until he culd cut dwn the tree. But the prblem was that each time he cut dwn the tree, it wuld quickly grw back, making it impssible fr him t cut it dwn. Like Chang'e, he had n chice but t cut the tree n the mn frever.
Zhu Yuanzhang and Mn Cake Uprising
The custm f eating mncakes n Mid-Autumn Festival is said t have begun in the end f Yuan Dynasty. One day, Zhu Yuanzhang’s military cunselr (军师) thught f an idea, and rdered his subrdinates (下级) t hide paperslips with "Uprising n August 15" n them in mncakes. Then, the mncakes were distributed amng armies in different places, asking them t supprt the uprising n the night f August 15. After the successful uprising, Zhu was s happy that he allwed his men t celebrate the upcming Mid-Autumn Festival with the cmmn peple eating mncakes.
