Ask the students the following questions about ReadingWho are the letters from?Why do they write the letters?Step2.Leading-inIf you have problems, what will you do to solve it? Will you go to your parents, friends or teachers? Maybe a youth worker is a good choice. Millie and Simon wrote to Sigmund Friend, a youth worker.Step3.Listening practice 1. Play the tape for the students and find out the answer: What’s Millie’s problem? (She has a lot of homework everyday.) 2. Listen again and check the answer with the whole class. Step4.Reading practice 1. Read Millie’s letter aloud. Ask students to listen carefully to you and follow the text on page 36. Ask questions to check understanding, e.g.What is Millie’s favorite hobby? (volleyball and music)What does Millie doubt? (She doubts whether it is worth spending so much time on her homework.)What does she dream of? (She dreams of a long holiday.)2. Read the letters more carefully then check the answers with the whole class. 3. Read the letter again and get the general idea of each part.Step5.Reading practice 1. Read Simon’s letter aloud.
