Unit 4

一、教学目标

1. 能够较好地掌握和运用本课的重点单词、短语和句型。

2. 能够写一写Spud Webb为实现梦想永不放弃的历程。

教学重点、难点

1.掌握新单词和短语：junior high, try out for sth., lose heart, change one’s mind, leader, simply, national, championship, succeed in doing sth, although, force, take notice of, prove等。

2.熟练运用新句型：

    1）While attending junior high, Spud tried out for the school team

2）When he finally got the chance, he scored 20 points in his first game.

    3）As a result, he successed in getting a scholarship.

    4）Through hard work, Spud Webb proved that size and body type really doesn not matter— you can do almost anything if you never give up.

8.proud 形容词，自豪的，骄傲的 be proud of “以…..而自豪”,be proud to do sth“自豪地做某事”，be proud 还可以接that从句。名词是pride,意为“自豪，骄傲”，常用短语：take pride in, “以…..而自豪”,可以与be proud of互换。

Recently, I felt like I reached a very low point in life. My relationships weren't good, I wasn't enjoying my classes, and I felt like I had nothing to    __16__.
