    In the writing sectin, the students are expected t write a jurney entry abut living in space. Thrugh reading and writing, the students will knw mre abut hw the astrnauts live in space; Meanwhile, students can cnslidate wrds and expressins learned in the unit.

    1. Lead the students t have a better understanding the theme f this unit and develp their the spirit f space explratin.
    2. Guide students t write a jurney entry abut living in space with the writing help n Page 71.
    3. Help students prepare a shrt presentatin abut anther new Vyage missin int space.
    4. Enlighten students t have the spirit f explring truth and cultivate students’ scientific thinking quality.

    1. T guide the students t get a deeper understanding f the text by analyzing the text structure and cllecting detailed infrmatin.

    1. Lk at the images taken by the Hubble Space Telescpe and match them t their nicknames.
    2. Lk at the title f the passage and predict what “eyes” refers t.
    Step 2 Fast reading :
    Skim the text and answer the fllwing questins.
    1. In ancient China, hw did peple understand the night sky?
    2. When did human’s pwer t see the sky start changing dramatically?
    3. What did the Hubble Space Telescpe help peple d when it was launched in 1990?
    Step 3 Further reading Activity 3
    1. The structure f the text and the theme
    2. Cmplete the timeline.
    Step 4 Pst reading:
    1. Why d yu think peple have always been interested in the stars?
    2. Which develpment in astrnmy mentined in the passage has made the greatest impressin n yu?
    3. In what different ways d the tw reading passage in this unit reflect the spirit f explratin?
    Suggested answer:
    The first passage is mainly abut the Challenger disaster. Althugh it was a tragedy, peple did nt stp explring space. This shws that peple will always seek t explre space, even if sme lse their life in ding s. The secnd passage is abut the develpment f the telescpe, and hw it reflects the desire t explre the unknwn. Unlike the explratin cnducted by astrnauts f the Challenger such as thse in the Challenger, the explratin in the secnd passage was cnducted by peple lcated n Earth, at n persnal risk. Nevertheless, the knwledge gained frm telescpe is immense. The tw passages shw that there are different ways f explring universe and f gaining knwledge.
