Grammar Fcus
只作情态动词的 can / culd, may / might, ught t, must可情态可实义的 need, dare 可情态可助动词的 shall / shuld, will / wuld相当于情态动词的 have t, used t
1) can的主要用法是: A. 表示体力或脑力的能力: e.g. The girl can dance very well. B. 表示说话的推测﹑事物的可能性等: e.g. Can the news be true? C. 在口语中, can可以表示请求或允许: e.g. Can I sit here?
另外,can表示个人有某种能力,而be able t表示某人通过努力、克服困难做成某事,相当于succeed in ding sth.;叙述过去事实时,最好用was / were able t,因为culd只表示过去具有某种能力。
如:Can yu understand the different kinds f English these peple are using?Tw years later, he was able t speak very gd Chinese.
2) culd的主要用法是: A. culd 是can的过去式, 表示与过去有关的 能力和推测: e.g. We all knew that the yung man culdn’t be a dctr.
e.g. Culd yu lend me yur dictinary? Culd I use yur bike?3) can和culd接动词的完成形式,表示可能已经做某事。 e.g. They can’t have gne ut because the light is still n.
以culd或wuld提问时,不能再以culd或wuld作答,而应该用can或will。如:—Culd I brrw yur dictinary?—Yes, f curse yu can.
culd与can都是情态动词,culd是can的过去式。 e.g. Can yu tell us yur stry,Tny?
比如: — Culd yu tell us if it snws in winter in Australia? — Sure.
A: Culd I have the televisin n? B: Yes, yu can. / N, yu can’t.2. He culdn’t be a bad man.
May Gd bless yu! He might be at hme.
have t和must
My brther was very ill, s I had t call the dctr in the middle f the night. (客观需做此事)He said that they must wrk hard.
He had t lk after his sister yesterday.
Yu dn’t have t tell him abut it. Yu mustn’t tell him abut it.
