Here are some useful methods to cut down your budget.AVOID BIG EVENTS    During big sporting games, concerts and exhibitions, the cost of accommodation is more likely to increase. A standard double room at the Thistle Brighton on the final Friday of the Brighton Comedy(喜剧)Festival (19th Oct.) cost £169.15 at Booking. Come while just a week later, the same room cost £118.15. If you want to know which dates to avoid or you've looking for a big event to pass your time, check out sites such as Whatsonwhen.com, which allow you to search for events in the UK by city, date and category.STAYAWAY FROM THE STATIONIf traveling to your destination by train, you may want to find a good hotel close to the station, but you are expected to pay more because of convenience at the start of your holiday. Don't put too much attention on the part of town you stay in. Booking two months ahead of schedule, the cheapest single room at Travelodge's Central Euston in London for Saturday 22th September was £95.95. A room just an underground journey away at its Covent Garden hotel was £75.75. While at Farringdon, a double room costs just £62.95.LOOK AFTER YOURSELFReally central hotels in cities like London, Edinburgh and Cardiff can cost a fortune, especially at weekends and during big events. So it will be a good choice to consider checking into a self-cooking flat with its own kitchen. Often these flats are hidden away on the top floors of city center buildings. An example is the historic O'Neill Flat on Edinburgh's Royal Mile, available for £420 for five days in September, with rooms for four adults.TAKE A BIKELondon's "Boris bikes" have aroused the most attention from home and overseas tourists, but other cities also have similar programs that let you rent a bicycle and explore at your own pace, saving you on public transport or car parking costs. Among the smaller cities with their own programs are Newcastle (approximately £1.50 for two hours) and Cardiff (free for up to 30 minutes).21The Brighton Comedy Festival is mentioned mainly to show that big events may________.Ahelp the travelers kill the timeBcause the travelers to spend more on accommodationCgive the tourists more choices to arrange their scheduleDattract move tourists to the UK22"Farringdon" in Paragraph 3 is probably________.Aa hotel away from a train station     Bthe underground line to Covent GardenCone of the most popular tourist destinations   Dthe name of a train station23The main purpose of this passage is________.Ato offer readers useful hotel informationBto tell visitors how to book hotel rooms travelersCto provide some money-saving tips for travelersDto show tourists the importance and convenience of self-helpB  I remember the day when I first learned to ride a bike. It was a frightening, yet fun experience. My grandfather was the one who taught me and he helped me when I got hurt. The first time I got on a bike, I had no idea what I was doing, and just about everything went wrong. My grandfather told me to just put my feet on the pedals(脚蹬子) and start cycling. He also told me he would hold onto the back of the bike the whole time, yet he didn't.
As soon as I started trying to balance myself, he let the bike go. I happened to look back just then. I was scared to death that I was going to fall and hurt myself. When I was scared, my mind went blank from cycling, and I just wanted off. I forgot how to use the brakes(车闸) and fell right off the bike. My grandfather kept encouraging me to get up and try again, and after about 15 minutes, I finally stopped crying, got up and tried again.
As soon as I started riding again, my pants got caught in the chain, and I fell flat on my face and hit my nose. My grandfather decided to call it a day and try again the next morning. The next morning I woke up brightly and early, and was very eager to try to ride my bike. My nose felt better, so I wasn't that afraid of falling anymore.
Despite the fact that I knew there were a range of difficulties on the way to mastering the skills in riding a bike, I believed I could do well with my grandfather's help. After all, riding a bike was indeed what I wanted to do eagerly.
    24. How was the author when he was on the bike first?
    A. He didn't know where he would be going.
    B. He thought balancing himself was easy.
    C. He was nervous and didn't know what to do next.
    D. He put his feet on the pedals and started cycling.
     25. What does the underlined part in Paragraph 3 mean?
    A. Remember what happened this day.  B. Make the author feel happy.
    C. Stop practicing bicycling.         D. Go on to ride a bike.
    26. What is the author's attitude towards his grandfather?
    A. Supportive. B. Grateful. C. Indifferent. D. Negative.
    27. Which of the following could be the best title for the passage?
    A. The Experience of My First Riding a Bike
    B. The Difficulty I Met with My Grandfather
    C. The First Time I Got My Own Bike
    D. The Happy Moment When I Stayed with My Grandfather
CBefore the corona virus pandemic arrived in Italy, the big worry about tourism was overcrowding, as millions of tourists crowded the country's most popular spots like Florence, Rome and Venice. Then, with the pandemic, tourists disappeared.According to most estimates, the tourism sector is not expected to recover to pre-pandemic levels until late 2023 or early 2024, but political leaders and many working in the sector are taking steps now to assure that, as the tourism strengthens, it avoids the former overcrowding problems in tourist centers.“Italy should not emphasize the dependence on big tour buses that all pull into parking lots and overwhelm a small town for a few hours, but promote more high-quality tourism that shows visitors the country wonders beyond the few dozen places everyone knows about," Gianfranco Lorenzo, head of the research department for Florence's Center for Touristic Studies, says. There's no reason people should be lined up to see one famous site when there are many places that are just as important and just as impressive. Those strategies are already in development. This summer many Italian cities are trying to focus the attention of visitors on outdoor attractions like sprawling gardens and architectural ruins, where visitors can remain spread out to keep corona-virus infection risks low.Florence's Uffizi Galleries, one of the most visited museums in Italy, has launched(开展) the “Uffizi Diffusi” initiative(方案)which includes displaying some of its collections in museums in smaller towns to help draw tourists who might otherwise have spent their time in overcrowded Florence.Lorenzo says reducing the impact of tourists does not mean the country will have to host fewer tourists in the future. “In a few years we could even have more tourists than we had before the pandemic,” he says. “But for that to be sustainable(可持续的), they just have to be spread out more evenly.”28Why do the political leaders in Italy adopt certain strategies in the tourism sector?ATo protect visitors from corona-virus infection.BTo settle the overcrowding problem in tourist centers.CTo limit the number of tourists coming to Italy.DTo host more foreign tourists in the near future.29The “Uffizi Diffusi” initiative has been launched to _______.Adraw more touristsBdisplay great worksCpromote tourism industryDspread out visitors30What is Gianfranco Lorenzo's attitude towards the future of tourism in Italy?AOptimistic.         BAmbiguous.CDoubtful.           DConcerned.31What can be a suitable title for the text?AThe Problem of Overcrowding in Italy.BThe Future of the Tourism Industry in Italy.CThe Reform of the Tourism Industry in Italy.DThe Impact of Corona-virus Pandemic on Italy.第二节  (5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5)  根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。Why do people travel?
