Step 2 Language points

1. She looked up and saw a white rabbit in a coat passing by.

look up 向上看

 look up 还可表示“查阅，查找”。

他抬起头时看到了老板。

When he looked up, he saw the boss.

你可以在词典里查这个单词。

You can look up this word in the dictionary.

2.one sunny day   

    one 表示不确定的某一天  (用于过去时)

     在一个晴朗的一天

   e.g. 一个星期天的早晨，我和父亲一起去河边钓鱼。

    ____ fishing ___ the river.

3. It took a watch out of his pocket and looked at the time.

take … out of …  把……从……里拿出来

不要轻易地把零花钱从你的钱包里拿出来。

Don’t take pocket money out of your wallet so easily. 

【拓展】由 out of构成的常用短语还有：

   get out of …             从……里面出来

   jump/run out of …  从……里面跳/跑出来

   look out of …           从……朝外看

6. She found herself alone in a long, low hall.

find oneself +adj.  意思是“发现自己(处于某种状态)”；find之后也可以跟名词或代词。

突然我发现自己面对面地跟这个人在一起。

Suddenly I found myself face to face with the man.

7. See/hear sb. doing sth.   看/听到某人在做某事

强调某一刻，看到某人正在做某事

See/hear sb. do sth.看/听到某人做某事（强调经常）

强调看到全过程,强调看到连续动作过程

8. Alice stood up and ran across the field after the rabbit.

Alice tried to go through the door, but she was too big.

句中的through是介词，意思是“穿过、通过”，通常表示“从空间穿过”，而across表示“从表面穿过”。如：

过马路时你应小心。

Be careful when you walk across the street.

直着穿过那道上方有“安全出口”字样的门。

Go straight through that door under the EXIT sign.

这只狗不能从这个洞钻过去。

The dog can’t walk through the hole.
