One f the greatest cntributins t the first Oxfrd English Dictinary was als ne f its mst unusual. In 1879, Oxfrd University in England asked Prf. James Murray t serve as editr fr what was t be the mst ambitius dictinary in the histry f the English language. It wuld include every English wrd pssible and wuld give nt nly the definitin but als the histry f the wrd and qutatins (引文)shwing hw it was used.
This was a huge task.,s Murrary had t find vlunteers frm Britain, the United States, and the British clnies t search every newspaper, magazine, and bk ever written in English. Hundreds f vlunteers respnded, including William Chester Minr. Dr. Minr was an American surgen wh had served in the Civil War and was nw living in England. He gave his address as “Bradmr, Crwthrne, Berkshire,”” 50 miles frm Oxfrd.

I'm glad i have wn the first prize in the English Cntest, which cmpletely cntributes t my after-class English learning.
I ften take part in the English Crner and practice speaking English. There are many participants in the crner and we can talk abut any tpics in English. By ding this, I have imprved my prnunciatin and intnatin. Mst imprtant f all, I have cnquered my shyness and timidness. I can talk t anybdy bldly in English. S I didn't feel nervus in the cntest at all.
At the same time I insist n keeping diaries in English every day. I will try my best t bring what I have learnt t use. Thus my knwledge has been reviewed and enlarged.

One f the greatest cntributins t the first Oxfrd English Dictinary was als ne f its mst unusual. In 1879, Oxfrd University in England asked Prf. James Murray t serve as editr fr what was t be the mst ambitius dictinary in the histry f the English language. I ften take part in the English Crner and practice speaking English. There are many participants in the crner and we can talk abut any tpics in English.
