Language is learned t be used in and fr cmmunicatin. S in this perid we shall have the students read a passage abut pinins and evidences first. Then they listen t a tape abut the missing Amber Rm, taking ntes at the same time. Third, students practice speaking based n the listening and making use f the expressins and idims learned in their speaking. Finally they are t read and reply t a letter abut picking and returning things which are nt their wn.

Prcedures
1. Warming up by talking abut “evidence and pinin”
Mrning, class. We always say, “We must respect evidences and can’t whlly depend n ne’s pinins”. But can yu tell me:
What des it mean when yu say, “It is evidence”?
What des it mean when yu say, “It is an pinin”?
2. Reading and underlining
Next yu are t read the text n page 5 and underline all the useful expressins r cllcatins in the part. Cpy them t yur ntebk after class as hmewrk.

Nw, bys and girls, as we knw, peple have never stpped searching fr the Amber Rm. This time we’ll listen t what three peple say they knw abut the missing Amber Rm. Befre we listen t them, I’ll present sme related new wrds t yu t help yu understand them easily. Please lk at the screen and read after me.
Nw listen and fill in the charts n page 5 and page 6.

5. Speaking and writing
We ften use sme expressins r idims express feelings and pinins. What are they? Lk at the expressins and idims in the bx n page 6 and these given belw.
Nw discuss which persn gave the best evidence. Yu have t use in yur discussin the expressins and idims learned just nw.
And after discussin write a list f reasns fr yur chice and reprt yur list t the class.
6. Reading and writing
Read the letter t the editr n page 7. What is being talked abut? What is Jhann’s pinin?
Nw imagine yu are the editr and try t write a reply t Jhann’s letter. When yu write yur letter, yu may chse t agree r nt agree with Jhann. Yu must give a reasn why yu agree r dn’t agree with Jhann. Be sure t give an example frm yur wn life s that Jhann can better understand yur pinin.
7. Clsing dwn by debating
There is a lng ancient wall arund a less develped twn. It is reprted it has a lng histry, dating back t ver 5 century BC. The lcal gvernment is cllecting mney t repair and rebuild the wall. It has cst a lt f mney. Sme f yur classmates think it is nt wrth. Sme think it’s a gd way t develp the lcal ecnmy. Nw Grup 1 and 2 debate against Grup 3 and 4.
An evidence must be real, bjective and withut any persnal judgment. S it can be prved.
