I. 要点点拨

1. —Is there a hospital near here?--这附近有医院吗？

—Yes, there is. It’s on Bridge Street.--有，在桥街上。

（1）这是There be句型的一般疑问句，其结构为“Be(Is/Are)+there +主语+其他？”即把be提到句首，句尾变问号。肯定回答是：Yes, there is/are.否定回答是：No，there isn’t/aren’t. 例如：--Is there a book on the desk? 课桌上有本书吗？

--Yes, there is.是的，有。/No, there isn’t. 不，没有。

【温馨提示】

There be 某地有某物；在某地有某物。be动词的单复数取决于后面的名词单复数，即主谓一致采用就近原则。

例如：There is some milk in the glass.玻璃杯中有一些牛奶。

There are ten boys and a girl in the classroom.教室里有十个男孩和一个女孩。

（2）on Bridge Street.在桥街上。Bridge Street是专有名词，首字母需要大写，且前面不加冠词。

【温馨提示】

在街上，英国人用in,美国人用on；

……街……号，用at。例如：

He lives in/on Xinhua Street.他住在新华街。

She lives at 88 Huayuan Street.他住在花园街88号。

2. The pay phone is across from the library. 付费电话就在图书馆对面。

(1)“主语+be+介词短语”的主系表结构，用来说明某地/某人的位置。可以和there be 句型转换，说明位置关系。例如：

The bank is between the park and the school. =There is a bank between the park and the school.

银行在公园和学校之间。

(2)pay phone付费(投币)电话。phone是telephone的缩写；pay n.付费。例如：There is a pay phone in our school.我们学校有一个付费电话。

【拓展】pay  v. 付款，支付， pay for为……付款。例如：You can pay 100 yuan for the bag. 你可以花100元钱买这个包。

(3) across from介词词组，在……对面，在……的对过，后接表示地点的名词或代词,相当于on the other side of 或opposite。

例如：The shop is across from our house. = The shop is on the other side of / opposite our house.商场就在我家对面。

【拓展】①across 用作介词，横过从……一边到另一边。例如：

There is a shop across the river. 在河的那边有家商店。

②辨析：across 和through

across 表示动作是在物体的表面上进行的， 强调从一端到另一端，如过河、过桥、过马路等。含义与on有关。through表示动作是在某一物体的内部空间进行的，如穿过一道门，穿过森林，穿过隧道、浓雾等。

3.The pay phone is next to the library.付费电话在图书馆的旁边。

next to介词短语，紧挨着，贴近，在……旁边，可用close to来替换。

例如：Tom sits next to me. =Tom sits close to me.汤姆紧挨着我坐着。

【拓展】辨析next to与near

4. It’s not too far from here.它离这儿不太远。

far from 离……远，相当于far away from，通常不与具体数字连用，若出现具体数字，常用“数字+away from”。反义短语为be close to离……近。

例如：My house is not far (away) from our school. 我家离我们学校不远。
