Hw t prepare fr an earthquake　　An earthquake is a very dangerus natural disaster, particularly in the Pacific Rim regin(太平洋板块). In fact, scientists nw believe that the highly ppulated Suthern Califrnian (加利福尼亚的)area is lng verdue fr a massive earthquake alng the San Andreas Fault.
　　After an earthquake, yur hme culd be a mess and yu might be left withut a water supply and energy. There are several things yu can d t prepare fr an earthquake befre it happens, t minimize the damage and ptential fr injury in and arund yur hme.
　　1. Make sure that the ht water heater is stable and cannt tpple(倒下；不牢固) ver. Evaluate yur electrical wiring, electrical appliances(家用电器), and gas cnnectins. D any repairs if needed. During an earthquake, faulty fittings and wiring
can becme a ptential fire danger.When securing appliances, be sure nt t drill hles in them—use existing hles, r make lps frm leather, etc. , that can be glued nt an appliance. Keep appliances turned ff and unplugged, s that the utlet is nt near the metal part f the crd.
　　2. Chimney bricks fall easily during an earthquake. 　　1)Lk arund yur huse. The huse appearance shuld als be checked fr weaknesses during an earthquake. 　　2)If yur huse has a chimney, this can be a surce f injury if it tpples during an earthquake. Secure it t the walls f the huse using galvanized(镀锌的) metal angles and bands at the tp, ceiling line, and base.
　　3. Practice earthquake drills at hme. 　　1)Identify safe places bth indrs and utdrs. Examples include: under study furniture, against an inside wall (where the ther side is nt expsed t the utdrs), away frm mirrrs r windws, r in the pen away frm buildings and trees.
