It was a cold and snowy morning after the winter vacation. Actually，it was my first day at my new school. I was walking slowly and worrying about lots of things. Remembering Long March

This year marks the 85th anniversary of the victory of a world-famous march-the Red Army’s Long March of 25,000 li (12,500 kilometers).
In October 1934, the Red Army lost after Kuomintang’s fifth attack（攻击）. They decided to move to a safer place. There, they could keep fighting against Kuomintang and the Japanese invaders（侵略者）. Four groups started at different times and took different routes. The number 25,000 stands for the longest distance the Central Red Army walked. In October 1936, the Long March came to an end. All four groups walked as far as 65,000 li (32,500 km) in total.
Along the way, soldiers went through unimaginable difficulties. They had to fight and survive in a difficult environment. In Sichuan, they had to cross the Luding Bridge in the middle of gunfire. What’s more, the bridge had only 13 iron chains because planks on it had been removed by the Kuomintang army. They also climbed over snow-capped Jiajin Mountain, which is more than 4,000 meters high. They didn’t have enough food or clothing. Many soldiers died of cold and hunger. In the Central Red Army, about 86,000 soldiers took part in the march. Only 7,000 made it to the end.
The Long March was a turning point for the Communist Party of China-from setbacks to victory. President Xi Jinping has called it a “miracle”. He said that we should carry on “the Long March spirit”: not being afraid to sacrifice（牺牲）, and believing in communism（共产主义） and the final victory of China’s revolution.
