3. Teach the patterns of alternative question.

Lead-in&Review

Greet students, ask them look at the picture, what do they look like? Review the words.

Learn

Step 1 Look at the charts and fill in the blanks.

Step 2 Ask students to identify the words in 3a.

Step 3 Ask students to read and finish the task in 3b, circle the correct words to complete the conversation.

Then, summarize vocabulary categories:

faces, eyes, nose, hair, appearance, personality, abilities.

Step 4 Ask students to take some notes about the grammar:

描述人物的语句：

1. 描述身高、体重等整体特征时用be动词。

他很高/矮/中等身高。 He is tall/ short / of medium height. 

她长得很瘦/胖/中等身材。She is thin/ heavy / of medium build.

2. 表示留着何种发型等用have/has。                      

描述头发: 长短+形状+颜色+头发 （no hair = bald 秃顶的）

她留着长的黑直发。 She has long straight black hair.

3. 表示穿着、戴着眼镜（帽子）用wear。

他戴着一幅眼镜。 He wears a pair of glasses.  

描述人物外貌的问句：

1. 她/他长得什么样子？What does he/she look like?

2. 他们长得什么样子？What do they look like?

3. 她个子是高还是矮？Is she tall or short?      

4. 他是长发还是短发? Does he have long or short hair?               

Step 5 Ask students to finish the task in 3c: write answers to these questions about different people. Then tell your partner about them.

Step 6 Ask students to describe someone in the class and ask their classmate to guess who they are describing.

Pay attention to use the sentences patterns:

What does ... look like?  Does he/she wear...?  He/She is ...  He/She has...

Step 7 Ask students to learn and take some notes:

Language points

handsome表示“帅；帅气”，多用于描述男性。 a handsome boy

pretty “漂亮；靓丽”, 多用于描述女性。  a pretty little girl

person “人”，有单复数形式，可以是男人，也可以是女人。

people范指“人们”通常表示复数,谓语动词用复数形式。

选择疑问句是指说话人提出两种或两种以上的情况,问对方选择哪一种，最后两个选择项用or连接。不能用yes或no回答。

选择疑问句的常见结构:

一般疑问句+供选择项+or+供选择项？  特殊疑问句+供选择项+or+供选择项？
