SA: What makes a great nest design?
JF: Placement is imprtant. The lines f the branches (树枝) create mvement and energy, resulting in a cleaner, simpler backgrund — such as smth stne r the sky — which really fits the nest. Fr me, it's all abut balance.

Brian Greene, a prfessr f physics and mathematics at Clumbia University, has created an nline science educatin platfrm. He tries t “build a bridge” with things yu knw abut, and then “bring yu acrss that bridge t the strange place f mdern physics.”
Recently I had a chance t ask Greene abut wrmhles (a hle which sme scientists think might exist, cnnecting parts f space and time that are nt usually cnnected), time travel and ther mysteries f the universe. I asked him a millin-dllar questin: What if I went thrugh a wrmhle and prevented my parents frm meeting? “Mst f us believe that the universe makes sense,” Greene said. Althugh there are several interesting theries abut time travel, he added, the laws f physics wuld prbably prevent smething s illgical (不合乎常理的) frm taking place. The gd news is that the time paradx (悖论) is pen fr future physicists t slve.
When asked hw physics culd becme mre exciting fr kids, Greene said that bks by Stephen Weinberg, Lenard Susskind, and ther physicists, “make it a great time fr peple wh want t learn abut big ideas but aren't yet ready, perhaps, t learn math.”
When I pinted ut that sme students still might find physics bring, Greene said that the key is t teach them abut things that are strange. “The basic stuff is imprtant,” Greene said. “But I think it's really imprtant t als describe the mre mdern ideas, things like black hles and the Big Bang. If kids have thse ideas in mind, then at least sme f them will be excited t learn all the details.”
Greene has fllwed Albert Einstein's lead in trying t slve the mysteries f the universe. Nw he wants kids t d the same. As Greene said, physics is “nt just a matter f slving prblems in an exam.” It's abut experimenting, shwing an interest in strange phenmena (现象) — and having fun!

As an ceangrapher (海洋学家), I've spent many years develping rbts t explre the cean, and nw we're putting that technlgy t use in ur JASON Prject, a prgram that's designed t inspire students and get them interested in science, technlgy, engineering and mathematics. In theaters thrughut the cuntry, we bring kids tgether and send back t them n large screens ur live explratins f large areas f the glbe. Nt nly are the kids bservers, but they can perate rbts mving acrss the area while bradcasting images back t them. The kids have the sensatin (感受) f really being at the site with us.
I believe advances in rbt technlgy will ne day be the key t a new kind f travel. In the next 10 r 15 years, peple will have rms in their huses that will be able t simulate (模拟) ther envirnments. I like t call these rms “hme dmes” — small theaters with screens and advanced equipment that can reprduce the sights, sunds, smells, and feel f a desert, r a frest. Hand in hand with these rms, I can see a market fr travel rbts lcated in cuntries arund the wrld. Yu culd rent a rbt wrking in a rain frest, then g int yur hme dme, where yu yurself perate the rbt's mvements. The equipment in the rm will receive the sensatins in the rbt's envirnment and simulate them fr yu.
Tday, much f the wrld's ppulatin never travels mre than 50 r 60 miles frm hme. And even a persn with enugh time can see nly a part f the earth's sights. But this new way f travel will cst s much less in bth time and mney and allw peple t see a lt mre f the glbe. And simulated travel will als help prtect ur planet. Yu can't take large grups f turists t lk at Dian Fssey's grillas (大猩猩). But a small rbt, with n animal smell, can get very clse t a grilla and send the sights, sunds, and smells back t a millin peple.
    28. The main purpse f the JASON Prject is t _____.
    A. design rbts
    B. educate children
    C. explre the wrld
    D. imprve technlgy
    29. Withut ging utside, peple in “hme dmes” can _____.
    A. enjy a guided trip
    B. get very clse t nature
    C. develp and perate rbts
    D. send images back t scientists
    30. What's the authr's attitude twards the future f rbt technlgy?
    A. Uncaring. B. Dubtful.
    C. Hpeful. D. Dissatisfied.
    31. Accrding t the text, simulated travel _____.
    A. has been widely accepted
    B. csts lts f time and mney
    C. is harmful t the envirnment
    D. is time- and mney-saving
    D

I tld her that her situatin reminded me f On the Waterfrnt, when Marln Brand's character realizes his brther is dishnest and he feels a great sense f betrayal (背叛). My patient identified s easily with him that she started t cry. Watching and discussing the film unlcked all the feelings she had buried. Each time she watched and cried, she felt better.”
Mr Wder admits that film therapy des nt wrk fr everyne, but says he has used it successfully with abut a third f his clients. “Thrugh the films' characters, plts and even music, it allws peple t face their prblems.” He said that Falling Dwn, in which Michael Duglas plays the part f an unemplyed man wh is s frustrated (沮丧的) that he uses vilence, was an example f the dangerus implicatins (后果) f nt letting anger g. “I used this film with a patient wh was very upset because he was hlding n t a lt f the anger he felt twards peple wh had frustrated him,” said Mr Wder. “We talked abut Michael Duglas's character and the disastrus path he takes, and my patient then realized that he needed t let g f his feelings mre regularly s as nt t erupt like a time bmb.”
