As it crssed the main nrthern island f Luzn，Mr Sawi warned f pssible flds and landfalls，particularly in the Crdillera Muntains.Fldstricken areas① f China and Vietnam were als preparing fr mre rains frm the pwerful strm.Megi was expected t mve n twards suthern China，which has already evacuated(转移)mre than 100,000 peple frm villages because f earlier flding.
Mre than② 3,000 peple in castal areas mved t schl buildings and twn halls that were turned int evacuatin③ centers.Classes and utdr activities were cancelled and fficials advised families t have ne persn stay awake vernight in case f any accident.Ships and fishing bats were tld t stay in prts，and several flights were cancelled.Rescue(救援)bats and thusands f fd packs have been prepsitined near the areas.“This is like preparing fr war，”Mr Rams，an army fficer，said.“We've learned lessns frm the past and we're aiming fr zer damage.”
Weathermen said the capital was expected t avid a direct hit this time althugh the lwest weather alert(戒备)was in effect Mnday with preschls clsed.In Cagayan，fficials rdered villagers t mve ut f highrisk neighbrhds in 12 castal twns.Farmers in Cagayan，a riceand tbaccprducing regin f mre than a millin peple abut 250 miles nrtheast f Manila，had been warned t harvest as much f their crps as pssible befre the typhn hit.
