    Step 2 Warm up

    2. Ask sme questins abut it.
    e.g.
    1. Lk at the picture. D yu knw this stry?
    What’s the name f this stry?
    S1: The Emperr’s New Clthes.
    2. Can yu tell the stry briefly?
    S2: Once upn a time, an emperr lved new clthes very much. One tw brthers came t the city and made a special clthes fr the emperr. They asked fr much gld and silk, but they kept them fr themselves. They pretended t wrk fr a lng time every day. The at last, the special clthes was OK. But nbdy culd see it. But N ne said it until ne yung by shuted that the emperr wre nthing.
    Step 3 Presentatin
    1. Present the new wrds n the big screen and learn the new wrds tgether.
    2. Ss read and try t remember the new wrds.

    1. Ask ne student read wrds in 1a. Tell Ss t match the wrds with the letters in the pictures in 1b.
    2. Let sme Ss tell their answers. Then check tgether.

    Step 5 Listening
    Wrk n 1b:
    1. Tell Ss t lk at the pictures in 1c. Tell them these are the pictures frm the stry: The Emperr’s New Clthes. Listen t the tapes and number the pictures.
    2. Play the recrding fr the Ss. Ss just listen fr the first time. Play the recrding again and number the pictures.
    3. Check the answers:

    1. Let Ss read the sentences in 1c first. Tell Ss t listen again and fill in the blanks with the right wrds.
    2. Play the recrding again fr the Ss t listen and write the wrds.
    3. Ss listen t the recrding carefully and try t write the right wrds.
    3. Check the answers with the class.

    Tell Ss the fllwing is a fairy tale. It’s name’s Hansel and Gretel.
    Befre Reading:
    Ask Ss t read thrugh the passage and decide what kind f text it is. Is it a letter, a play a shrt stry r smething else?
    Ss may find ut that it’s a play.
    Fast Reading:
    1. T: Nw let’s wrk n 2b. First, let’s read the questins and make sure we knw the meanings f all the questins. Then read the passage quickly and find the answers t the questins.
    2. Ss read the letter quickly and try t find the answers t the tw questins.
    3. Check the answers with the class.
    Careful Reading:

    s… that…是一个常见的句式结构,表示“如此……以至于……”, 副词s之后
    接形容词或副词,that引导一个完整的句子,有时that还可省略。例如本单元
    的这个句子:That bird’s sng is s beautiful that we wuld fllw it.

    We thught…表示人们过去的某种想法,判断等,可以译作“我们原想……; 我们本以为……”。如:I thught he wuld cme, but he didn’t.

    它在把我们引向那座由面包,蛋糕和糖果做成的美妙小屋。
    此句中made f bread, cake and sugar作定语,修饰名词huse, 形容词wnderful也是huse的定语。在英语中,大部分形容词作定语修饰名词时应前置,短语或句子作定语修饰名词时则后置。如:the yung peple in the rm 屋子里的年轻人
    4. The wife tld her husband that unless he left the children t die in the frest, the whle family wuld die.
    妻子告诉丈夫,如果他不把孩子们扔到森林里让他们自生自灭,整个家庭就会灭亡。
    unless的意思是“如果不,若非,除非”,它引导的是一个条件状语从句,相当于if…nt。因此,上面的句子改写为: …if he didn’t leave the children t die in the frest, the whle family wuld die.
