    When I walked int the huse after schl, the first thing I nticed was a bx with items I recgnized frm my dad's ffice. When he tld me that he was laid ff. I thught he was jking. Then I nticed his seriusness and realized he was telling the truth. My father has always been a hard wrker. He has prided himself n his career. ①__________ I guess I had taken his wrk fr granted.

I gave up my spending mney, which wasn't much. I als fund a part-time jb.
    ④__________ He explained that he never wanted t be laid ff again, s he was ging t start his wn business. Day by day, I watched him build it. One evening I asked if he needed help. "Only if it desn't affect schl," he said, I shwed up at his ffice the next afternn, and mst afternns after that fr tw mnths.
    I always knew he was a hard wrker, but watching him in actin influenced me a lt. The terrible experience fr ur family taught me hw t deal with difficulties. Nw I knw that thrugh creative prblem-slving, I can always find Plan B. I can ask fr help and take risks. What I have learned frm my dad's understanding f business and his wrk ethic(信条) are tw f the mst imprtant lessns I will ever learn. ⑤__________

    Driving culd sn be a far mre pleasant experience thanks t a persnal in-car rbt being develped by researchers. The rbt, which is called "Affective Intelligent Driving Agent(AIDA)" will be able t tell yu the best rute hme based n traffic reprts, remind yu t pick up petrl and suggest places yu may like t visit. The rbt, which sits n the dashbard, is being develped at the Massachusetts Institute f Technlgy(MIT) in cllabratin with Vlkswagen.
    AIDA cmmunicates with the driver thrugh an expressive rbt screen and will even appear sympathetic if yu're having a bad day. Cynthia Breazeal, directr f MIT's Persnal Rbts Grup, said, "We are develping AIDA t read the driver's md frm facial expressin and ther cues and respnd in a prper way."
    AIDA wrks by analyzing the driver's mbility patterns, keeping track f cmmn rutes and destinatins. The creatrs say the rbt shuld be able t wrk ut hme and wrk lcatins within a week f driving. Sn afterwards, the system will direct the driver t their preferred supermarket, suggesting a rute that avids traffic-clgged rads. AIDA might recmmend a petrl stp n the way if the fuel tank is nearly empty. The rbt will als analyze real-time infrmatin abut traffic jams, the weather reprt, cmmercial activity, turist attractins, and residential areas.
