These can be considered a parent for the modern amusement park. Opening in the Elizabethan period, the fair had developed as a center of other amusement with entertainment with fun, food, games, and many other attractions. The beer festival held in Munich, Germany which started in 1810 and the county and state fairs in the US, also played a part in the brief history of amusement parks. Unlike the Bartholomew Fair, these annual events were usually held during an important time when crops were ripe, which deserved to be marked.Amusement parks are also known to have grown out of the pleasure gardens that became very popular at the start of the Industrial Revolution. These were the zones where one could shun the dull urban life for a short while. We can find the oldest and stillsurviving amusement park in the world: Bakken in Denmark, which opened in 1583. These parks consisted of fireworks displays, rides and the modern railroad to accommodate the growing expectations from their customers.Another turning point in the history of amusement parks was the world's fairs which began in 1851. The Crystal Palace in London, England was a landmark and celebrated the industrial achievements of the world. These were seen as symbols of economic and industrial success. In the last decade of the 19th century, the electric trolley lines became extremely popular. Mechanical amusements, dance halls, sports fields, and restaurants were included as regular entertainments, as the history of amusement parks reflects. The golden age in the brief history of amusement parks didn't appear until people especially Americans spent less time on work and got a steady rise in their personal income. A number of amusement parks including the kiddie park were set up outside major cities and in the countryside, to make full use of this new economic opportunity. The original Kiddie Park is located in San Antonio, Texas and is still in operation today. 1What was the purpose of the early Munich beer festival  A  A. To celebrate harvest together.BTo show local attractions.CTo create a stable agricultural market.DTo found a center of amusement. 根据第一段的“The beer festival...Unlike the Bartholomew Fairthese annual events were usually held during an important time when crops were ripewhich deserved to be marked.” 2What does the underlined word “shun” in Paragraph 2 mean  D  AExperience.    BComplain.CTolerate.    DAvoid. 3What made the amusement parks fully developed  C  AThe Industrial Revolution.BAdvances in technology.CMore time and money for fun.DEconomic and industrial success. 根据最后一段的“The golden age in the brief history of amusement parks didn't appear until people especially Americans spent less time on work and got a steady rise in their personal income.”,可知,直到人们花更少的时间在工作上,而且个人收入得到稳定的增加时,游乐园的黄金时代(golden age)才得以出现;结合下文的“A number of amusement parks...to make full use of this new economic opportunity.” 4How does the writer mainly develop the text  B  ABy comparing amusement parks.BBy providing examples. CBy describing historical events.DBy commenting on events. 阅读七选五(2021·吉林长春市高三质监)College is the time when you're expected to focus on your path in life. But it's also the time you're the least equipped to have any long-term plan.   1. E  .The whole process can be divided into three stages. The first is “gathering fuel”This means building up your skills, learning from different experiences and developing network of people who you trust and who trust you.And this is a stage that requires patience and willingness to identify your own weaknesses and work on them.If you complete this stage with a growing sense of what you love to do and what you are good at,   2.A  .The second stage is “burning fuel”This is the time to improve the skills you've obtained through experiences, the relationship with the people you've met along the way and the recognition of what you should do.  3.F  . We want to get there in a hurry, but that hardly works.  4.D  . Simply speaking, it's about staying strong, while turning an eye towards what lies ahead. It's a surprisingly long journey and most people underestimate it.You can't expect an ideal life to happen by itself. You must recognize that no matter where you are on the path, each step is there to teach you something, feeding you that fuel. If you're not doing what you want, you need more fuel—so go out and get it.   5.G  .Ayou are winningBthat will come trueCThe last part is “saving fuel”DThe final part is “filling fuel”EHere are some tips on how to aim your sight into the futureFIt seems that most of us try to jump straight to the next stageGAnd if you're doing what you want, keep moving and don't settle文章大意:这是一篇议论文。 空处是该段的主题句,D项中的“The final part”与上文的“The first”“The second stage”相呼应。 语法填空(2020·郑州市高中毕业年级第三次质检)The Chinatown in San Francisco is   1.the biggest   (big)in America, and also the oldest. It is a very popular tourist draw that receives more visitors each year than even the Golden Gate Bridge. The climate is mild all year round, meaning there is always a good time to visit it.Historically, Chinese immigrants settled in the area during the railroad construction and gold rush period. What started   2.as   a residential (住宅的) area for Chinese immigrants then turned into a centre for Chinese culture. Most of the residents in Chinatown   3.are   (be) still Chinese, many of whom do not speak English fluently. This allows visitors to experience a real taste of China. Most of Chinatown   4.was destroyed   (destroy) in the 1906 earthquake, but the city and residents rebuilt it, taking care to include lots of Chinese architecture.   5.Traditionally   (traditional), visitors enter Chinatown through the legendary Dragon Gate, which was built using materials donated from China. Visitors can also spend hours just   6.exploring   (explore) the interesting sights, smells and sounds of China. Portsmouth Square, the centre of Chinatown, is also a key site, which has a long and famous history. These days, the square is a great place to see traditional Chinese culture in real life, such as games of Chinese chess and people practising tai chi.The   7.stores   (store)in Chinatown offer a unique range of souvenirs and other goods. All kinds of traditional Chinese herbal medicine can be found too, and there are Chinese tea shops,   8.where   visitors can taste and buy a variety of Chinese tea. But perhaps   9.what   many tourists and San Franciscans treasure most about Chinatown is its food. There are traditional dishes from all over China to suit everyone's taste. Chinatowns are an important part of the diverse culture of the USA.They allow visitors who have never been to China   10.to experience   (experience) traditional Chinese culture first-hand. 所以填the biggest2. 所以填was destroyed5. spend time (in) doing sth.“花费时间做某事是固定用法。 allow sb. to do sth.“允许某人做某事是固定用法。所以填to experience
