What different types of food are introduced in the video? What do you think of them? S: Watch the video and give their opinions.
Which food have you ever tried? What’s your opinions towards it? What food from other countries have you ever tried?
T: Encourage students to tick out the food they would like to try in Exercise1 and tell the reasons. S: Choose the food they like and tell why. T: Ask students what are in common of the food. S: Give their opinions.
T: Ask students to read the title and guess: “What’s the meaning of it?” S: Read the title and tell their understanding.
(1) T: Get students to read the whole passage quickly and tell their understanding of the title again. S: Read fast and tell their understanding. (2) T: Ask students to choose the main idea of the passage in Exercise 3. S: Choose the main idea and tell the reason. (3) T: Encourage the students to sum up the main idea of each paragraph and tell the clues. S: Sum up the main idea of each paragraph and tell the clues.
(1)T: Get students to read and find out what food is mentioned in the passage. S: Scan the passage and find out all the food mentioned. (2)T: Get students to read the passage again and finish the table in Exercise 4. (Find the family’s opinions on different food and supporting details.) S: Read carefully and finish the table with supporting details about people’s different attitudes towards the food mentioned.
S: Prepare and try to retell.
(1) What does the author mean by saying "one man’s meat is another man’s poison"? Do you know of any similar sayings in Chinese? (2)What expressions does the author use to describe food and people’s feelings towards food? (3)What food in China or other countries is your favorite? Try to describe it. S: Think over and give their answers.
Make a lapbook about food in different cultures after learning the text.
