Warm up | Teacher invites students to make predictions about what kind of information about Superman will be mentioned according to the title and the picture. Ss talk about their predictions about Superman. | ||||||
6m’ | Reading for information | T invites Ss to read the whole passage “Where does Superman get changed these days?” and check their predictions. Ss talk about the main idea of the passage.
T guides Ss to read the passage again and answer the following questions: (1) Why does the author start the passage by writing about Superman? (2) What will disappear in the future according to the passage? What is the major reason for this phenomenon? (3) What supporting arguments does the author give to make the points convincing? Ss share the answers. | ||||||
2m’ | Reading for the structure | Ss read the passage and summarize the structure of it, thinking about the questions and answers above. T helps Ss to get the structure if necessary. | ||||||
2m’ | Reading for language | Ss read the passage and underline the useful expressions used in writing about a change. Ss summarize the language features of the passage. | ||||||
3m’ | Preparation for writing | T organizes Ss to think about something that might disappear in the future and give the reasons. T encourages Ss to use the useful expressions in the text to give the supporting arguments to make the point convincing. Ss complete the table. | ||||||
1m’ | Writing | Ss organize the language and write a passage about a change by themselves. | ||||||
6m’ | Revision | T presents one student’s draft to the whole class and guides other students to do peer-assessment with the help of the checklist. T invites Ss to appreciate another good sample. | ||||||
