Ss are reminded to pay attention to the expressions in bold.T asks Ss to complete the letter of activity 6 with the correct form of the expressions in activity 5.4’Step 2Listening for main ideaT invites Ss to look through the four statements in activity 7 and underline the key words. They are encouraged to predict the main idea by finding the connections between the four statements.Students listen to the conversation and check the prediction.7’Step 3 Listening for detailed informationT asks Ss to read the table in Activity 8 to get the useful information and understand the logical relationship between the phenomena and the examples.T asks Ss to listen again and make notes according to the conversation.T encourages Ss to complete the table with reference to their notes.T invites Ss to listen for the third time and check the answers and share with class.4’Step 4preparation for speakingT guides Ss to get familiar with the two types of functional expressions from the conversation in activity 9 and encourage them to come up with some related expressions they have known.T asks Ss to complete the boxes with the expressions.Some Ss are encouraged to share their answers for the class to check.T invites Ss to work in pairs and talk about another phenomenon of the global village using the expressions in this section.
