To raise the Ss interest in learning English.  Important pointsTo master the letter Uu and the sound /ʌ/ in words correctlyDifficultpointsTo read and spell the four words by the phonetic rules.Teaching proceduresStep 1  Warming up & Revision1. Greet the class.2. Oral communication: Talking about the fruit.3. Show the pictures on the screen and ask the Ss to use the sentences I like.../ I dont like.../ Do you like?/ Yes, I do./ No, I dont.4. Review the dialogue of Lets talk. Step 2  Presentation & Practice1. Review the letters of Lets spell. The whole class read and spell together.2. Show them the letter Uu (umbrella, under). Review the sound of the letter Uu. Present the words about the letter Uu (fun, run, duck, under). Try to read them according to the phonetic rules. 3. Ask the Ss try to read the words together.4. Look and match. Ask the Ss to match the right pictures.5. Practice with more words by listening and spelling. For example: cut, bun, gun, hut, nut, mud, ...6. Find the difference. Present the word put which sounds /u/ and the words fun, run, duck, under which sound /ʌ/.7. Play the finger game to practice the words.8. Listen to the tape and ask some of the Ss to repeat it one by one. Then follow the tape to chant.9. Read, listen and number. Ask the Ss to read out thewords on P50. 10. Do exercises.   A. Find the different one.   B. Listen and fill in the blank. According to the listening material to write down the words. Then check some individuals.   C. Listen and write.   Ask the Ss to pay attention to the letter f. At the same time to check some individuals.11. Ask the Ss recite the words by themselves, then check up in pairs.Step 3  Consolidation & ExtensionDo exercises. Fill in the blanks according to the pictures.Step 4  Summary & Homework1. Summarize the key points.2. Do homeworkRead and write more words have letter U sounds /ʌ/. Reflection
