Teaching procedures Step 1 Warming up & Revision 1. Greet the class. 2. Walk into the Ss to talk with some individuals by using the sentences. How are you? How old are you? How tall are you? How heavy are you? What size are your shoes? Who is taller, Zhang Peng or Yao Ming? Who is heavier than you? Step 2 Presentation & Practice 1. Review the words. T shows the phonetics, Ss try to read and spell the words. Check up some individuals. 2. Read the four-skill sentences of Unit 1 together. Then trans- late the key sentences. 3. Ask the Ss to read the word rules of comparative degree. 4. Read the word rules and the sentence rules of comparative degree. Make a tongue twister to help Ss. 5. Present some words and check them. 6. Do exercises . 7. Summarize the method of using comparative degree. 8. Give several minutes for the Ss to conclude. Step 3 Consolidation & Extension 1. Find out the mistakes and correct them. Tell the Ss the ways to solve problems. 2. Fill in the blanks. Use the rules of comparative degree correctly. 3. Write down the sentences. Give them the method. And ask some Ss to read the sentences aloud. 4. Give the clues of the articles. A. Write a composition according to the information. B. Set the example of the article My Friend and I Step 4 Summary & Homework 1. Focus on the word rules and the sentence rules of comparative degree. 2. Repeat and emphasize them again. 3. Do homework.
