Teaching procedures

Step 1  Warm-up & Revision

1. Greet the class.

2. Brainstorm to help baby words to find their families. Group the words together and read together.

3. Can you think of one more word group and add as many words as you can?

4. Show the words in different groups and read together.

Step 2  Presentation & Practice

1. Make a situation. Mike visited a farm several days ago. And he posted some photos and an essay on his micro blog. Let’s have a look.

2. Show PPT and ask What can you see on the farm? Give the tips and have some students to answer according to the tips. And then finish the blanks on page42.

3. Mike visited the farm several days ago and he met his new friends Bill and Mrs Booth. What are they like?

Have the students describe them with the following words thin, short, strong, long hair, young, tall… First, describe in pairs and then check some individuals.

4. Mrs Booth and Bill want to go shopping. Help them finish their mind map. Have the students to finish the blanks on page 43.

Step 3  Consolidation & Extension

1. Make a dialogue according to the mind map.

2. Collect all the questions words When, Where, How, Who, How much…. Find and summerize the method to ask with the question words correctly.

3. Fill in the blanks with “a, an, some and any”. Then check the answers.

4. Ask the questions according to the answers. Then check the answers together.

Step 4  Summary & Homework

1. Classify all kinds of nouns and summarize the rules of changing nouns into the plural forms. Summerize the special words. Ask the students find the usage of nouns and attentions.

2. Describe the appearance of a person.

3. Do homework.

B. Talk about your deskmate at home.
